... Chinese traditional saying "Respect elders" exist in asian? if it does, the elders shlould not been seen in the folk house by now.
recently, my young sister-in-law gently remind me to respect her parents (in 50s). i lost respect in them since they do me harm physically. so, i thought that respecting them do not mean respecting their faults also. dont sound sense. from the point of my views, if they want to earn respect, they show us self-respect first. then we respect them, no matter what age.
any1 diagree? -

everyday, i see my mum-in-law waking up at around 11am and doing nothing at home. all the whole afternoon, she is chatting on phone... in the evening time, she acts "good wife and good mother" to her own family... she even complain abt me, being lazy and dun want to help her out.... i got very angry with it cuz i got studies, kids to take care of (she dun bother to help around)... worst, she just leave my clothes hanging outside when it is going to rain.... drives me NUTS... f**k her off, yet her family memebers want me to respect her... siao..... me very angry -

There is an age reached whereby a person's sensibility become somehow lost or partially lost.... If a person's conduct before that has always been respectable, the person's conduct after that I can bypass as a mental defect... But if a person's conduct BEFORE that has been bad and has shown that he /she has always been like that... In my opinion, that doesn't naturally mean that he/ she should be RESPECTED because of his/ her age.... ie. don't mean that hitler and Saddam Hussien should be naturally respected as they age....
What you've brought upon yourself, more or less you should still pay a little responsibility...? -

hmm about sending our elders to old folks home, its really depends on how u see it lor. some ppl feel its bad. but u have to see the situation i guess. for example, if your grandfather or grandmother really cannot take care of herself, her mind is going, senile, keeps getting worried, can't feed herself, refuses or forget to bathe. and there is no one to take care of her cuz the adults working and stuff. she would be better taken care off in an old folks home i guess. anyone care to give comments?
