I thought i was passionate about my chosen path but in the end... it was something carved out of figments of society after years of conditioning. It is only when you are actually in it and doing it, that you begin to realise otherwise. Hope you dont fall into the same trap as me.
Practically speaking, having a degree in accountancy or ACCA allows you to work as an accountant and progress along that line. i.e. finance manager, FC, CFO. CPA is an additonal qualification required for you to sign off accounts as a public accountant. It does give you an advantage over non-CPA holders in the finance sector but it really isnt required. However, if you are intending to work overseas, holding a CPA gives you higher recognition and advantage in the foreign firm. CPA is an internationally recognised qualification in accounting, and you learn boring accounting standards and taxation.
CFA is not really relevant to accountants as it is deals mainly with investment related subjects. This route is for those wanting to be stock finance analysts.
icic.....will take into consideration.

Sums up the idea pretty well.
Have you decided on what you want to pick up yet?

Hi Ptky
After a few years of working in the corporate jungle, my personal thoughts are that although i consider myself a good worker, i do not find great pleasure being a subordinate to others. With time, experience and reflection, i can feel a personal calling. Some call it mid-life crisis, when your world suddenly crumbles down on the realisation that you have not lived life. That's when people totally change their occupation to something vastly different from their current occupation.
I'm actually still quite far from that age but i shall be looking forward to starting my own trade and also to research in stock charting analysis on my own pace.
I saw from other threads that you're feeling kinda lost. I'm not sure about you but if I were you, i'll choose to start off working for other larger corporations. One thing is that you can develop your own social network in the absence of the white horse syndrome and secondly, you gain exposure to the operations of larger corporations which is valuable to your family business especially if it's still in a growth stage.
