my sister is facing this predicament now.
three years ago, she quit her job to start a family. she was holding an executive position. now, she wants to rejoin the industry but finds it tough getting a job in her original profession.
what can she do to rejoin her industry preferably at the equivalent level where she left it ?
I guess best thing is to upgrade herself, and work from a lower position
most of the time, it's not about what u want but what are available at tt time.
she may not have to jump right back to where she left off
with the market now, she gotta lower expectations
and then from there, work back up again
if she still has it, im sure she can regain her status quickly
Either start lower a bit....or...some upgrading in some sorts....like having extra certification in something.....
if its executive
and she was a really good worker
surely got lobangs one what

Seek her old colleagues for help if she is close to any of them.
Other than that, it is unlikely for her to jump straight back to anywhere close to where she was before.
The other option will be to seek a lower-position job in the same industry.
after 3 years out of the industry, employers are hesitant in employing her for fear that she is out of touch with the industry. even if she is willing to accept a lower-position job, the chances of getting the job are lowered due to employers' perception of her, as well as competition from younger people.
her ex-colleagues can't help much because they themselves face being laid off in an industry badly affected by the economic crisis.
advise her to continue to send in resume till she got a job offer. sure will kena one company de, after sending out hundreds of resumes de.

ya, will tell her to persist. she is on the brink of giving up on her first love (profession) and considering if she should change course. i think it will be a shame becuz she is good at what she does and has much to contribute.
