"He is 26 yo, never worked before (not even a temp job), and has only O Levels. Not that he is stupid or what.
He was from a top sec sch, did well enough to go to a Top 5 JC, found studies "boring" and quitted JC after three months. Then he tried his hand at poly, found it "boring" as well, and quitted after a few months as well.
Then he went to NS, and did practically nothing as well since he managed to secure an operation and got several months MC.
Since the end of his NS, he has just been slacking all these years...
Oh ya, his family is pretty rich.
How would you advise such a friend to get his act together?"
that explains it. his family is rich, so he does not need to worry about money and future, as his family can provide for him even if he does not work.
as a friend, you can advise him, but I doubt if he will listen to you. if you keep advising him, he will find you a bore and a nag and may soon dissociate with you. if his parents do not worry, so why you worry.
If he likes to slack, how is gonna fing a job? His family maybe rich, but that does not mean he can slack off. One day his family will kena bankrupt, what is going to do, nothing? As if nothing really happened .
Please advise him to be more active. If he still spends most of his time slacking off and not taking your advise, don't bother because he'll be the one who's going to suffer.
He needs to get out of his own comfort zone before he understand the need to work.
if he is rich why not?
its after all a once in a lifetime chance to be an 二世祖.
You already said his rich, only poor people need to work. Rich people no.
He has only O levels...at the age of 26...but his L1R5 points is 7. Hahaha...what can he do now if he finally wakes up his idea? I think he should find a poly course which he is interested in and proceed from there?
Point is, he is rich. I have some friends thats collects degrees for fun. Aka study here and there, and they dont make full use of it. Why ? they are rich ofc.
No need to study la....he's got money. Advise him to do business.
His O levels are good.
Poly can be boring, I have a frenz who dreaded doing projects.
advice a couple of times
if he doesn't wanna wake up and leave him lor
u worry about your own life first, that's more important

You should give up on him.... maybe his family already gave up on him long ago even before Dinosulars got extincted
, but if he pays your meals, movies & girls, then you may carry on !!!! haha
Since this topic is about rich and poor kids, here's an excerpt:
Brain function was measured by means of an electroencephalograph (EEG) - basically, a cap fitted with electrodes to measure electrical activity in the brain - like that used to assess epilepsy, sleep disorders and brain tumors.
"Kids from lower socioeconomic levels show brain physiology patterns similar to someone who actually had damage in the frontal lobe as an adult," said Robert Knight, director of the institute and a UC Berkeley professor of psychology. "We found that kids are more likely to have a low response if they have low socioeconomic status, though not everyone who is poor has low frontal lobe response.
.
.
.
.
"This is a wake-up call," Knight said. "It's not just that these kids are poor and more likely to have health problems, but they might actually not be getting full brain development from the stressful and relatively impoverished environment associated with low socioeconomic status: fewer books, less reading, fewer games, fewer visits to museums."

Wake up after 11am, go out eat, hang out, walk around etc...
I think you should ask him to do more work. Just to make him active abit more.

Give him time to learn from his own choice of path. He'll wake up one day on his own when his life is no longer comfy and smooth... There are times when well meaning words alone are useless. Real-life experiences will touch him more in his case, since he'll probably think you're jealous of his life now.
