regarding this... i do give donations to ppl wif tins...if i got extra coin in my pocket..i will donate again to another person wif same cause...coz i think if one person donate 10cents,100 people is 10bucks...Originally posted by p|gGyPeN:I believe that most of you have been pestered by students doing Flag day Donations on weekends in City areas, bus-interchange, MRT stations and many more.
Thus, i would like to touch on 2 issues today, that is ...
Students, who HAVE to render their service, are not doing their part in helping the unfortunate, poor or needy.
It may be true that they are being FORCED into it coz its been implemented into their curriculur time and they need the hrs badly. However, I m quite against those who juz stand there wif the cans in their hands, that is people who think that asking for donations is something disgraceful or watsoeva. It is as if pple would juz donate. Most of the time, i m waiting for those people to juz ask coz i m willing to stop and dig out the coins anytime.
Worst still, there are pple who juz collect the cans and either go home or somewhere, until its time to return the cans.
Secondly, some people are well-dressed, but simply unwilling to even stop by and donate a cent.
I had this experience when i was doing flag day, for the red cross society. Alot of teenagers who are dressed in designers' clothes juz walk off/shun me and give me 'that kind of look' when we walk towards their direction to ask for donations. Yet, this foreign construction worker(who barely earns 500/month), dressed in a torn shirt and tattered jeans, juz took out a 50cent coin, looked at it sadly, donated and walked off. At that point of time, i really feel like giving him back his 50cents, coz i know that the amt. is impt to him.
personally, i dun approach pple who have lotsa bags on their hands, pple bz talking on hps and some others but i do urge u guys/gals out there to help and all u need is to donate an amt which u think is affordable.
I do welcome advice, comments frm others.
'wateva is worth doing at all, is worth doing well.'
That really happened to u, what a disgraceful lot of Singaporeans, all of us r living in Singapore, so there sholdn't b any discrimination. Btw, there's also those who r very friendly and even offer help when in need, right. Anyway, u r really unlucky to meet those "bad" pple while working loh. So u r working in the sales department, huh? Vacatn job?Originally posted by ApPlE_PiE:singaporeans are realli a disgrace!!do u all noe dat we had been listed as the worst grp of pple in Asia??
i work in the sales grp,so everytime during lunch hour those office pple will come to our shop to look look.most of them think dat juz bcoz they dress smarter than us,they r more superior than us!most of them r chinese but cun even speak simple chinese!they think dat juz bcoz we r nt working in the office(like they do),we duno hw to speak eng.so they'll use their so-called chinese to communicate to us.its very obvious dat they look down on sales pple!!
i like yr last paragraph haahaa... farnie man ....the way u put it...Originally posted by Larry:I still remember doing Rag & Flag during my varsity days. It was funny when u go up straight to the person and ask for donations. Then u see the person ducking here and there so as to avoid coming into contact with u.
In simpler terms, people are getting more and more stingy nowadays. Only when they go through the hellish process of the needy, then would they understand the need of social kindness.
Those teenagers who rather spend their money on designer clothes are just plain materialisitic. When they grow up, then will they know the importance on how to spend your money.
For those people who just stay there to wait for people to donate, u can carry on waiting. Until u take the step to approach those people outthere, being passive about such matters just bring nothing in the end.
And for those bengs and lians who got nothing better to do than to "diao" those people collecting donations, wait till u grow up without a proper education and then u will know that these people are your financial providers.
