And where is the OP in midst of this sexual chats?
OP off computer, pack up and move out already
Do you mean conspicuous?
Anyway, you dont have to feel low or lonely. I'm a Singaporean and i certainly do welcome you to Singapore. Don't care about people. Why do you even bother if they looked at you. The reason why they look at you is probably because you're different from others. But for now, just hang out and try to explore Singapore. Try ro learn a little singlish to make others feel less "afraid" of foreigners. Try to blend in and know a little about the culture. Its natural to be home-sick. But, trust me my friend, once you're on the right track, you'll be leading the train.
Also, if you really miss home, maybe you should try "befriending" other Citizens of UK. I'm sure we have a UK circle of expats here in singapore. Cheer up!!!!!

Yes I agreed with you.
But ts must try the first step of being dare enough to go downstair, go to coffee shop, buy or eat there. First time, 2nd time or even 3rd time, people will look at you. Not that you are detest or bad, it is that they simply never see the person (different) before. Over time, they will get use to it and they will even talk to you if you stay friendly and smile. Give it a try......

Join club or society that you are interested in and im sure you will make friends there.
as a person with british nationality, i can 100% confirm this statement.
or as the locals say: double confirm
I think TS has seen our replies and lost all hope of feeling at home here.

haha i like these forums because you can see the singaporeans real feelings about foreigners...they are too polite to tell you in person.
my advice to TS: if you can cook, and plan to stay in singapore a long time, open a english food place in hawker centre. Then i can be your very best friend :D
I meant because people here are full of crap and she can never crap on our level of lameness.

Just be friendly and smile to your local neighours (sporean), they will one day, smile, wave and talk to you.
If you are snobbish kind of pple, you will have hard time adjusting the life here in spore.
Dearest Expat,
Everything you do people see you differently because you are different.
Depending on who they are and to what extend they worship caucasians. I can frankly tell you, your husband is definitely getting all the attention from those hard up girls who like caucasian bfs or dreaming to marry one, so this is one thing you must guard for yourself. Don't blame yourself for being suspicious, in fact it is a good thing to be.
Well, other than this, all I can say is, let time proves itself. Culture, habits and people differ place to place even in Singapore, it's a multi-racial, multi-culture country. At least you speak the same language we do! =)
P/S: It is normal to feel sad, lonely, bored and even depress but once you get out of these negativities, nothing can stop you!!
Even the place I stay in now at least 30% are foreigners. So far, they blend with the locals well.

Or go join those aunties' cooking class, yoga, cake making or prata making classes also can help you evade the boring, then later when you go back your homeland, can start make pratas and sell like hotcakes, when I was in britain, a prata cost 2 pounds, goodness me.
