Help : I was arrested for something I did not do...

In Jan 2003 this year I was arrested for a crime I did not commit (along the lines of molest). I was released a few hours later on bail as the so called Victim claimed that I touched her about 2 years + ago in a lift. No evidence, No Nothing and yet I have to be arrested
as she claimed to positiely identify me 2 years later near my HDB blocks as I later found out that she stayed in my block too... It's a new neighbourhood with new flats so we don't often meet.
Now I'm constantly worrying about the outcome of the case even though I know nothing will probably happen to me as I REALLY hate to remain a Suspect!!! The police have recommened "No Further Action" and all I'm waiting for right now after 2 statements taken is for the DPP to reply and return the IP(investigation papers) to the police to recomend them what to do. Sigh I found out police have to listen to them.
Can any kind police or lawyer guys or just anyone give me advice on what I can do except wait wait n wait ... Do the police really take that long to close a case like this or just all cases in general. It has been about 5 months and still no confirmed news...

since you did not molest, u need not fear anything unless she dare to produce some evident to frame you which i personally feel that it's LAME. btw, have you offended anyone 2 1/2 years ago or something ?

No she doesn't have any evidence in the first place and I don't think I've ever offended anyone... she's this malay schoolgirl staying in my block.

yo pal, u'll say i'm not in ur shoes but i think since u din do it..da lack of incriminatin evidence renders u innocent..hav a lil' faith in s'pore forensic competence..dun wori so much now n oways present urself as composed n guiltless.. -
I can see your problem... the sad thing about singaporeans is, they can be a bloody unkind bunch when it comes to this, even when the person is innocent.
I mean the neighbours will probably shun the poor person, despite of the fact if he is guilty of not, "just to be safe". Singaporean style.
Two years ago... the memory of the incident is certainly hazy, even if it was a tramatic experience. And if you look generally like the perp, or remind her of him, then you win liao. This has happened countless times before and will contuine to happen. Sadly, I can say little to you but to grit your teeth and go through this time with a guts and glory approach. -

I'm not scaring you but unless she settle out of court, you going in pal. As long as a report had been made, the police will treat you as a suspect. The case will drag for about 3 mths (Get your lawyers ready bro). Then it will be a few court hearings. If she do not settle out of court, be prepare to tell your family members to visit you in there.

Hey ID4II, since you are so sure that the law can just put anyone in jail without edvidence and go straight into trails just because a girl asscused, let me get a girl to file a molest report against you and you can go tell your family members to visit u in prison.

They wun b able to arrest u without any evidence or witness...u dun have past records den dun need to b afraid...even section 55 needs evidence but the sentencing is done wif ministry of home affairs nt in court...mayb u could look for ur mp for help...Police case r always tt long...take years even...so b patient dun bother about it...i think after 2yrs or 3 if still no evidence den case close

Such case is hard to prove. If u have a "clean" record so far, after some "interrogation" ... u should be alright 1 lah... no worry.
Talk to a counsellor if it affects u emotionally, and I do empathize with your emotions at this point in time.

Thanks a lot I actually faxed a letter over to the DPPs and the admin staff say that they will look into the matter and check the status if possible....
