i guess better in the sense that u regretted doing something in the past and, by changing ur action, the future depending on ur new action is more satisfactory (to u at least)....i guess thats wat the word 'better' aims to defineOriginally posted by Devil1976:1st of all, until the day the LAWS governing the Universe have been changed.. 2nd thing... No matter what you change in Life you probably don't make it BETTER... You're probably just substituting it for something else... Every changes that you might wanna make, you probably could have done it.... And they probably would be waiting for you to DECIDE in the COMING FUTURE.... Ever read the book or seen the movie 'TIME MACHINE'....?![]()
er... sixth sense ??? ... common sense ???Originally posted by curad:in every sense
Nay... You change one thing, ya change another indirectly... Everything that happens usually have its plus and minus... Just depends on how ya see it....? Besides... Everybody has to die one day...?Originally posted by Gary25:i guess better in the sense that u regretted doing something in the past and, by changing ur action, the future depending on ur new action is more satisfactory (to u at least)....i guess thats wat the word 'better' aims to define

I hope to be successful in all the roles that I would play in the future...
Be it as a working adult/ wife/ mother/ grandmother/ friend/citizen..

Just.... MEANING in life...? Have ya ever thought of how to make life more MEANINGFUL for EVERYBODY....?
I really like Emerson's writings.. I actually bought and tried to digest his biography. Nonetheless, this quote is probably not from him.Originally posted by Devil1976:To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;

though it is often attributed to him. I have never been able to find it in any of Emerson's writings, nor has anyone else to my knowledge (and plenty of people have been looking).
As of now, it seems that the quote may be traceable to a 1905 publication by a Bessie Stanley. Apparently, in a collection of quotations on "success," her poem appeared on the facing page from a quotation which was from Emerson. Perhaps the mistaken attribution began when someone copied the source inaccurately from that collection. Here's a 1905 article from the Lincoln Sentinel about that version of the quote: Bessie Stanley's Famous Poem
