I am spending so much $$! esp on the latest computer I've bought, and my braces. The news came rather unexpected that I've to spend $3400 on my braces.
He is currently self-employed but income has been rather unsteady. So I guess that the $ he is giving for my dental treatment is from his savings. When I told him about this, he did not say anything (but agreed), but I can tell the worry lines on his face....

i think if u have already spent the money, then it's over. What u can do now is the least is to be able to see that ur dad is willing to sacrifice so much for u... This is what i call parental love, give everything for their child, n nothing for themselves. Sometimes we only know the value of money when we sweat n toil for it. But now that u have an opportunity to learn by seeing from someone's elses exp. I think u should make the best out of the situation. Money is hard to come by these days my dear...

gee..jonalim, i'm really so touched to know that a child today actually knows how to feel guilty about spending dad's $ because they like usually think parents owe them a living and take them for granted or something. you know how tough to be parent so should repay him whenever you can and oso be prepared for parenthood urself. but ur dad is right to dote on u as his good child. not just his child, but his good child. -

Nevetheless, what you can do now is to treat your dad nicer. Try not to spend so much $$ in future. start saving your own $$ and if really need, maybe you can do some part-time job. And if you are studying...do put in effort in it. -

If i put 2-and-2 together, you posted another thread on your peers and also how you felt about your parents. I suppose now you can appreciate what he has done for you. Many times, parents may not know how to express themselves, so they always tell you to study hard. By getting the comp for you, was your dad's way of telling you he loves you. I'm sure he spent the money willingly. If he knew that you appreciate what he has done, that's more than enough for him. Great things are happening...

what is spent is already spent, so no point crying over spilled milk. Just make sure you be more thrifty in future.
