Feeling Lost

hi i am at the point where i am going to graduate in a years time and start working. i am in computer engineering uni, yet i feel so lost with no ambitions. i wanted to be an air stewardess, parents think that is no job for a degree holder, wanted to do aeronautical engineering but father thinks there aint much job prospects for a lady in the field. i wanna live life for myself, all these years have been living the life of wat my parents want of me. i live for them also they r not satisfied. i am having sucidial tendencies these days, see no purpose in living , i cannot live my life like wat i desire. i dont know how to get things straight. i feel scared and keep panicing. can someone advise me please thanks. my parents wanna set me biz, than i start wondering why i even do this degree. i feel so useless with everyone just making use of me.

Just live with your decision and take advice from people if you want to. At least that way if something goes really wrong one day, you'll be the one who live to regret your decision... Not to regret because someone else has made the decision for you... When you're firm and mature to make the decisions yourself you should very well do so... Don't be afraid of failures... If you never try, you'll never know... And you'll never learn... -
there are more and more ladies being more prominent in the engineering field already.. so don't worry about it.. you may need to work a bit extra hard just to prove yourself.. but it is true that the aeronautics industry has only few players here.. it depends on what u really want to do in the industry..
think hard and long if u really want to be a flight attendant.. it's fun and quite an experience to be flying around.... but my friends say it's not a long term job to be in.. some do make it well as a flight attendant.. many just go for the experience and stop after a few years.. if u don't want to fly long term.. prepare yourself to have a way out after life as a crew..
lastly, sometimes, parent's advice are good to follow becos, they've been thru life.. listen and decide on your own.. it's your life to live for

What parents say cant be always right. They been thr life but that was the olden times. If u wish to pursue ur field of interest, show ur udying interest over it and back up ur arguement with society findings such as prospectives for the job and benefits.
Prove to u parents that u can succeed in ur field of interest. I cant believe u let ur parents dictate how u should be living. If ur parents are unreasonable, i suggest u try to contact family helplines.

Take some time off, decide what YOU want to do with YOUR LIFE.
i know there will be many who will take offense to what i am about to write..
forget all the pressure and whatever your folks put on you!
some mean well, some don't.. but whatever, it only clouds YOUR OWN judgement...
ultimately, it is what you will do with YOUR OWN LIFE!
many will say i am selfish, but i've been through more than i will ever let on... and what right do folks have to determine how you will lead your life? don't they have their own to figure out? without turning yours into a nightmare of confusion, guilt and insecurity?
your life is not theirs to lead for you...
it is confusing now.. it will remain confusing.. that's life.. few are blessed (or sometimes even cursed) with knowing what they want in life...
take your time, because ultimately, it is your life and your own destiny... no one else's...
i wish someone told me these things in the past... and my life would not be such a wreck, trying to live up to everyone's expectations, i ended up living up to no one's and having no direction of my own, almost losing my humanity...
and don't worry about being lost, after all, everyone gets a little lost sometimes... i'm almost 34 and i'm still finding my way...

i dont know i so feel like a loser. so many issues on my mind. my sis just went ahead and took motorbike lessons without telling home and my parents never say anything, if this is me there wil be some big fight. i am 21 now, my sis is off in australia , my bro going to go london and yet when i had asked to go off overseas since i could not cope with my studies here my parents say after u finish this than go, my parents keep treating them both like adults and keep treating me like a kid, where you go, who wat time and cannot go!!! i wanna earn my own money, make money myself, but my parents keep giving ideas and opportunities to my sis and bro not me. they r like u cannot cope with studies u just study. i have no idea where i am headed. i just felt like sharing my myserie, with my sis and best fren gone off to study, my frens dealing with FYPs and their own problems, there aernt many people i can readily talk about this certain issues. for i have an image, to talk of this is to let my guard down which i just cant, i dont know i always belived ur problems are not for others to know, u have to learn to deal them.

You can learn to deal with your own problems, but that doesn't mean you can't share it with other people?

Yo, you future is in your hand. No one can control it, they can only give advice for you to consider. The most important thing is not regretting what path you had took. Happy is the key to success. So better follow your goals and don't let others control you. Try to get advice from lecturers, they may have more information. All the best

taal_dancer.. advices given, be it well-intended or not, it is your decision to make.. if you feel, that if you want to stand on your own decisions and desires.. seize the day!.. but always remember when everything seems to be going wrong and you have no-one to turn to.. your parents will be there for you to learn on
