I would like to go overseas(Australia) to pursue a degree but i have financial problems. What i can fork out is only 1/3 or 1/2 the amount. The amount is abt 70K. I did approach banks but they only loan 3 time what my guarantor is earning which is inedequate.
Anyone wif similar problems or and grads go trhu the hard ways too pl give me advise! Im very keen and set for my target! -

unless u go find some co that are willingly to sponsor u and u sign 'bond' with them, of coz provided u must have a academically proven track record of excellent results
which i dun have.

there are organisations which give out bursaries. You can also try getting loans from other places besides banks. A few options:
1) Buy 4D
2) Get to know rich people or find a sponsor
3) Borrow from banks
4) Get scholarship (if you qualify)
5) Borrow from friends and relatives
Otherwise, sorry you can't go! -

last time i set my sights even further..........the USA ...
but come to think of it ...I could only pay a tiny fraction of the 6 figure cost......sighhh
changed my stance now, i picked my last choice: part time degree accredited by overseas university. -
hhmmm.....approach the school and seek for advice concerning loans? if not....work a few years then go?

Im sure not everyone who went abroad are rich ppl. There must be some who are in my situation before and they have solved the problem. Maybe a reasonable loan? low interest.....???? I hope there is a way.........

on the other hand, besides going to the bank, look at the expenses of the different schools. Some are cheaper because they are state universities, whereby it's subsidised by the nation or state. It will mean that you might have to compromise with the reputation of the reknown schools. Might need to work a few years before going or be taking up a job when you're there to cover the last few year of your education.
Sometimes the cost of living specified by the school is not a good representation of your actual spending. For me it's a lot cheaper than the school stated. That is, you got to cook your own meals and look for cheaper housing when you're there. -

do u think its worth it to spend 70K to study??? Then return to sg after a few yrs ...not knowing whether u can find a job and yet got to pay off all your loans?? Isn't that a lot? 70K leh...HOw many years to pay off? in future u have to loan $$ for house, car, getting married....etc....??
If I were u, I will get a distance degree locally....cheaper n lesser loan to pay off!

Another way is to postpone your studies. Find work with a good company that has money to send people on scholarship. Show it through your good work performance and get them to send you over. Furthermore, you will have to sign bond with company, so sure got job waiting for you when you return (if you do return at all).
I know this is the tough route but at least you won't come back ladened with debts. It's not wise to take loan and come back with debts esp the economy is not good. Not forgeting, as you age, there's more debts coming in.... e.g. marriage, house, car, utilities bill, baby etc and you better pray you don't fall sick overseas either coz the medical fees will bankrupt you if you have a terrible illness whatever on top of having to pay for school fees and accommodation, meals and transport. In 4 seasons countries, you have to fork out money for warm clothings too which will add on to your cost.
Think carefully.....is it worth it??? At the end of the day, is the degree/diploma really that good??? would you turn out as any other local grad in terms of chances for a job? -
Either get loans from banks or..
Go to a cheaper university, which means study in Singapore, for example to SIM, they offer degrees from overseas universities, and they probably half the price of overseas ones.
Life is not smooth sailing, you can't possibly get the cream of the crop.. it's just making the best of all you have. -
Your mad, you should go to a local university. You've never been to Australia, at least never lived there, you don't know what its like. Far better to get bits of paper here than move overseas. Living costs and relocation costs would be a lot higher there. I suggest you stay put and pursue a local university education. Plus the bonds and loans are quite... precarious...
Its far wiser to put away your fantasies about the beach and the large women there, and the smiles and boomerangs and jumping kangaroos. Get your education here, nourish yourself, and then move there when your more established, rather than go to a foreign country with almost nothing.

I wanted to do distant learning oso but im pursuing a Degree in engineering........whereby distant learining for engineering courses doesn't seem to be recognised by the Professional Engineering Board of Singapore.........

Why can't you enter? Perhaps you might want to consider repeating a previous year.
