Certain pple need some time to warm up for sparks to fly...
while for others....there's simply no chemistry...thus no reaction...
To pinpoint a particular characteristic(s) that make(s) up such a person (whom u can "pei yang gan qing") is a rather ardous task since it clearly differs between individuals....
Risks are involved in every type of relationships....cos you neva know who u are going to meet and how pple react to u...

but for the two to remain in a relationship.. love must exist.. and love for each other ought to be cultivated and developed..
love must come with action.. it's not passively feeding on feelings and fate..

In order for a relationship to be cultivated, there has to be a 'start'. Sometimes 2 person who hardly know each other... Or fate is sort of 'playing' on them... Always seeing the 'wrong sides' of each other? Always meeting under the wrong circumstances? Just like 2 individuals who don't get a chance to meet each other at all on this planet... 2 dots... Just that sometimes 'fate' can make it worse?
If you wanna believe that love can be cultivated over time... I'll say that it's probably because 2 person who initially didn't have the 'start' just happens to touch on something(s) which give the relationship a chance or reason to grow...
The development of the relationship would be a totally different story altogether.... -

anyway personally i tink one party need to take the initiative. doesn;t depend on whether gal or guy. cos someone has to ignite the matchstick before the fire can be started ritez? i shall name the the one who initiates 1st move (eg asking the other party out) as Initiator and the other person as Passive.
it really takes alot of trials and errors aka dates to find out whether things are going to work out fine.there is always this 'moment of truth' when spark! the chemistry strikes. and the Passive will be attracted to Initiator. this moment of truth is hard to define though. for eg, certain actions you do on that particular date attract him to do. for eg: u tug ur hair behind ur ears and the guy find it appealing or something like that. after that, it's up to Passive to see whether he wants to further it.
take note that there is always a window period, which i usually term as 3 months. if after 3 mths, u find that there are no responses from him/her then forget it. you are wasting ur time on him/her. it's then time to move on.
also you need to do a little homework, such as finding out his/her interests and most impt, whether he/she likes another person already. cos if he/she has another person in his/her mind, it will be quite hard for you to break through this barrier unless you are absolutely sure that particular guy/gal doesn't like ur target at all and there's no chance for them to develop at all.
nevertheless you can still try... but if you feel it's going nowhere, then stop. sometimes you may be so inv0lved with another person that you neglect other pple around you who truly likes and appreciates you for who you are. -

is the person being pined after, someone with his hardcore lofty ideals as to what his girlfriend should must be like? if not, try to start by being his normal friend and deepen in your relationship. treat him in many ways as you would your best girl friend, do not feel shy around as he will feel awkward. let him feel comfortable about discussing ANYTHING with you. yes, that includes talking about pretty girls, this crush and that without turning red in the face. ie. there there is nothing too sensitive to discuss. 100% transparency and zero distrust, jealousy. therefore, also do not feel shy or inadequate to show him the exact care and concern as would most accurately express the state of your heart. so my point is to be true to yourself and to him. but i will never encourage you to declare your intention of wanting to be her girlfriend too soon. but rather, take this time to know him deeper and whether you can actually go long-term. by expressing your care and concern, there's no chance you could have gone unnoticed and if he will even consider you a prospective gf. if not, he can't reject either because there was never a proposal in the first place. all this is based on the assumption that this guy is someone who can appreciate someone who truly cares for him, and not one who insists that she must look like his dream girl or something. so to answer your question, yes i believe that provided the guy is someone even worth pining after, 'ai4 shi4 ke2 yi3 pei2 yang3 de'. -

It can only happen if the other party wants to give a genuine chance to the other, placing mutual efforts to work towards the objective.
Actually most of the time, you discover compatiability rather than love from this and for some people, its good enough to remain in a relationship. Some people may argue that this doesn't equate to love... all I have to say is that...
P.S: If love is measure by levels. there are a hundred steps to the level of love. Everyone belongs in between.
