hmm, will i regret this??

well, actually have been my wish to get into university upon graduation from polytechnic..
But somehow i feel that is should go work and support the family to ease the burden..
as u see, my dad doesn't contribute any income to the family, so my mum is working quite hard la.. business hard to do...
n i finally decided not to further my study upon poly graduation...
it's really a tough decision n i wonder will i regret this....
some pple have told me tt maybe i can go take private course or night course.. but somehow i feel that if i start workin, i might just give up the thought of taking night course due to the stress and heavy workload..
i really worry that i might just regret this in future... regret for not going into university..
any advice for me?? -
you can always do the night, part-time courses.. it's tough... really tough.. but with determination, you can still provide AND get an education...

yes u can work and study at nite...seen ppl done tt; tough but can be done, tough but for a good cause. and yes, determination is the main key...

it need not necessary be a bad decision. i can give u an example. those who had graduated from local poly ard the year of 97-00 and went straight for a 2-4 yrs degree might feel this. after getting their degree, this grp of pple are badly hit by the economy slump and sky high unemployment rate. fresh uni grads found themselves having great difficulties landing a job that match their educational status, or none at all. on the other hand, their poly counterparts who joined the workforce after graduating from poly are mostly holding stable jobs and have clocked a few years of work experience when the economy slump occured. employers are also more keen to employ experienced poly grads, rather than fresh uni grads.
thus as you can see, you are not really at a disadvantage. with many viruses spreading ard, you'll never know when the dark days will come again. so, secure yourself with a job first to lighten the burden of your mum. stay for 2-3 yrs to get the experience (and savings). after that, like what others have suggested, u can get a part time degree, or full time degree but work part time. at least after u have gotten your degree, u still have some working exp. this will give u a competitive advantage.

as for working and den attending night class, it will be tiring. work in da day and studi in the night.. i doubt u got no time for revision when exams are near.
i suggest u to haf a gd talk to ur mum and see wad she says abt it. u can alwiz tk up loans for uni studies.. -
A suggestion,
If you do get accepted into the uni(meaning your results qualify), study full time take a loan to pay for uni fees. Work part time if you need to support yourself. Partime work more fexlible and less stress and commitment. -
go ask for financial help from CDC or uni or RC or dunno what lah.. if your case it real.. sure can find help one lor.. never give up studies to work if u can still study lor.. or go find those Lee foundation or that creative guy lah.. sure will help u one lah

Personal suggestion. Work 1st. Can always go for a relevant degree when you feel that the economy is picking up and U-graduates are in demand. From there, you can then decide if you still wanna further your studies? Either opt for a part-time studies or even drop your job to go full-time studies if you want to? If luck is really on your side, you might even get your company to subsidise or contract you to support your studies... Options would always be available then. I personally find that it's more practical to tackle a realistic problem on hand (financial) then to opt for a better future... Provided that you can even have one if things don't go really work during your full time studies if you opt for it now... Still, future is unpredictable. It's your call. I can only advise you based on probability and options which are available to you... The way I see it? To add. Having a few years of working experience for now is never really a bad thing? i am in the same situation with u... dad not working and mom is the only income... but i think study first... at least when i come back and start working mom can retire liao... if not mom will be worrying how am i going to get my degree and in the end work more years and worrying how she going to help me with my sch fees... but all this depend on whether u haf enuff for ur studies... for my family we haf juz enuff so still can choose

sorry,i dun know wat advise to give u...but i must say take time to think CAREFULLY abt it....but i hope u can carry on studying cos it is my dream to get into uni but i dun think i can.so since u can...y not go for iT!!!!!all the best man!!!!!..
.i would like to ask u wat is the grades u get when u are in poly...to entitle u to get into local university??i am now in my 3yr of poly life....i wan to go local uni as welll but fear my grades are unable to get me in....mine grades are b and c.... -
ur grades B , c.. mine towards to C, Ds... some bonus will get A like application of C programming and stuffs.. main module, stuck to C, D.. Lol

but hor, the SAT test muz work very hard to pass lor.. not so easy...
