hi dude.
i have diabetes. at 1st it was pretty bad, but once i've learnt to live with it, its actually pretty ok. it sometimes still sucks when u are feeling unwell and people simply think u are trying to weseal out of work but overall... its still ok. Live life to your fullest, and everything will be cool. With the aid of proper care, medication, life as it was b4 is not impossible. I still can eat ice cream, although maybe once or twice a month, instead of almost everyday previously, i can still club, i just keep the number of drinks down to a couple.
anyways, do look on the bright side of things. for your case, u could be thankful it ain't something more serious. for me, im thankful that it wasn't type 1 diabetes, which needs insulin jabs. im thankful my life wasn't disrupted too much. there are always 2 sides to a coin. its which side u choose to look at that counts.
