Males working as a Nurse

Do you think that those hospital will reject males that apply to be nurses?
Me thinking of it as a career path.......

my brother looks like an ah beng and he is a nurse.
If you want to help those whos are sick and in need of tender loving care... and you can give them this tender loving care to make the sick feel better than go for it. -

If thats the case then whats your opinion between enrolled nurses and staff nurses in terms of employbility ?
i will be somewhere near 24 if i were to go in as a enrolled nurse
and 27 as a staff nurse, is it too late -

male or female, nurses should always stand proud and heck! i'm always in awe of them actually

erm... registered nurses gets higher pay but with more responsibilities than enrolled nurses??
anyway, it all depends on what u want...
but it's not male or female nurses are the same, thou there is still a need to have male nurses... at least they will be able to handle big size male patients...
u can try to get sponsorship for ur studies leh... see which hospital or institutions u r interested in and call up their HR to find out more lor....
erm, if u need, i can help u to find out the HR no for the SHS group lor... -
oh yah, btw, whats ur qualification har??
cos i think there's this SMCP course (diploma) for nursing... for ppl who had a degree but is interested in nursing... it's a 2 or 2.5 years course lor... -

My father was a nurse for 35 years - in fact both my parents were (no prizes for guessing how they met! ). Anyway, he did like his job and eventually retired as a HNO, if I recall the ranks correctly.
He did tell me that when he first signed up for the job in the early 1960's, they didn't actually say what it was in the newspaper advertisement. Once they announced it in the briefing session, the room cleared out and my dad found himself and one other guy remaining. Both my parents enjoyed their careers and if you're so inclined, I'd recommend that you give it your best shot!
The other good thing is that now that he's got Parkinson's disease, he got plenty of former colleagues and subordinates falling over themselves to help him in any way they can! -

I'm working in a hospital currently and i see there's nothing wrong with male nurses

nursing has got nothing to do with gender
but like the Bear said, it has to be a calling
if you're going into it for the $$$, then forget it
there're lots of other ways to make money
it is very draining work : physically, mentally and emotionally
you need a passion to see you through a nursing career
my salute to all nurses out there...
