Personally... I'll suggest the 2nd one. Dip. in hotel management... Looks like tourism and hotel business won't be flying too high in the near future.. By the time you've completed your dip. and working? Must things are already quite firm and established in the market... In my opinion, Dip. in fashion design is too specialised... Unless it's REALLY your INTEREST and you've got the TALENTS for it.. (plus you'll still need LUCK to be recognised..) Then you can try for it?
Dip. in fashion merchandising and marketing seems more practical as it's more business related and it's also easier for you to move on to a job of wider related scope in the future (this is rather important based on the current situation in employment...)... -

wat i plan to do is to register myself for all three courses...
n c which one m i able to get in..
but if i happened to get enrolled into 3 courses.. i think i will take the fashion wan..
den i bring my portfolio to the teacher n ask if base on the drawings do i haf talent.. if she/he say no.. i will tk fashion merchandising n marketing..
cuz afterall,i used to hate art.. only till last year.. i started to b interested in fashion design.. den started learning thru the books i borrow from the library.. -

Do you have what it takes to be a fashion designer? If you have, go for it! If not, think harder!
If you wanna please your parents, take up the tourism thingy!
There's always a part-time diploma course for both mentioned above in case, the one you chose, failed to meet your expectations! -
Actually do what you like... no point working on something you are not quite interested in just to please youer parents.. fashion designers can also earn money just perhaps not that much in Singapore and maybe not regconised but its never to pursue your dreams... Afterall.. Versace became rich as a designer.. so actually see how you view it. If you ever make being one some day, your parents will definitely support you, i think.. Filial is impt but like some people say don be "yu xiao" foolish filial. Of course, given the kind of environment these days, money is definitely more impt.. If you plan to have a family than perhaps dreams is another thing but if you decided to be single, why not? be a freelance designer?

actually, if u are talking about government or GLC jobs, they dun really recognised ACCA, their prefer NTU deg, but if u are not planning to go there, then yes it is as recognized as NTU, but it's alot tougher to pass it too, passing rate is about 50% only, so unless u got no choice, my advice is dun try it, better to go some aust uni and get ur accounting degree there.Originally posted by boy in blues:yup. it's as recognized as NTU accountancy degree, but costs more since non-subsidized.
