I say its both at times... sometimes you just have to rely on fate and on some things you can decide on your own fate.

Then again, for situations u know of and has a certain amount of control in, like u already know the girl, then take fate in your hands and make the best of the opportunity. Fate can only gives us the chance, it's up to us to grasp the chance when it comes along.
