What legal way should I do?

I'm in a fix. My best friend borrowed my guitar and gadget for the past month. I want it back. Recently, I told him I need it back and he keeps 'promising' (that's what he said) to return me the next few days. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. Then, every mssg I sent him (sms), he never replied and every call I made he never picked up. I have a feeling he wants to 'keep it'. You see, we no longer at same school. And I need it this week for a jamming session. But he keeps ignoring me!!!! What should I do? Report it to police or fight it out?

Or u can go his house when he at home... Then he no choice but to return... IF he dun wan, u threaten to tell his mother or wat lah... -
send a warning letter and if it still doesnt work...consider ST forums.

I aprreciate ur help guys but right now I'm 17 and it'll be a bit too childish to complain it to his mom. But i think option 1 is better. But a bigger complication is he said that my guitar were at his friend's house near his school, temasek JC. Tha's another problem.

I dun think telling his mum is sort of immature. If he doesnt know how to keep his promises and return other ppl's things, I think its time someone should teach him abt it. This is your property and u haf every rite to get it back. U can go to his home, since he dun wana ans or pick up ur calls, no point in helping him keep from his parents. -

i really dun think u would wan to resort to the legal system for such petty cases, unless u wan to forget abt this relationship and jeopardise ur chances of future ones.

if not seriousl forget ebt him and the guitar treatr it as u paid ur price to learn all this

this kind of feller don't give you face...i suggest you dont give him face either. if i were you...i just go right up to his home at night when hes in and demand back my guitar. If he don't give you just let him keep his guitar...but make him pay for it in other ways....
house windows = $400
burn door = $250 - 500
break his power line = $150
snip his phone wire = $25
etc...
make him pay for it months and months...and i promise he will beg to be let off. -

I agree with jusgal. Legally, you have no standing unless you have documentary evidence that the guitar and gadget belong to you, and alo documentary evidence that he borrowed it from you. If you have warranty cards for the items with your name and the items' serial numbers on them, you might be able to get the police involved in recovering them.
Failing that, approaching the parents is your next best option. I can understand why you would say that it seems childish for a 17-year-old to do so. However, at the same time, this fellow doesn't seem to want to deal with the situation, and you will need to do whatever it takes to force him to front up. Given that, and given that you wish to keep your methods above board, talking to his parents is a reaonable course of action. If anything, he is the one who is childish if, at this age, he needs his parents to tell him the right thing to do. -

wat r u waiting....go up his hse n look for him liao...to collect ur stuff..report police for wat..this kind of case they wun care one lah...find one or two good frd go to his hse n show him who is the boss..if he act blur...break his door..drag him out teach him a lesson that whenever he see or hear ur name it will sent chills down his spine.. ..remember u treat him as a friend u lend him ur stuff n he betray ur friendship...it is a betray to omerta...
