This path in front of me

  its the age old to be or not to be.. whether to take this road..
  a post grad scholarhsip overseas get a pHD and come back get bonded to this uni and then be an academic.
  
  I will want this. but the block now is my relationship. My gf all along has not been supportive of any situation that will require me to be out of singapore for more than a week. A month maybe she can accept, but if i take up this, it will be 3-4 years..
  
  I see the end of things unless something changes.. miracles?? Should i ask her to come along? she had in mind to pursue further studies, but i guess hers is still more local.. if i can convince her to go with me, then maybe got a chance but if no... then quite hard...
  
  life really is about choices.. this maybe a life turning moment for me and those who are close..

  I would think that her main concern is that your relationship will change when you go overseas.
  Thus, the main point here to be address is the fears and worries that she has. And, you will have to ask her that.

  If you really see this as an opportunity and of great interest to your life... Start learning about management of Long Distance Relationship now and after having getting an upperhand of things, try to convince her... I can understand your gf's mentality.. But such a form of mentality might be hard to survive in the years to come after you're both married... But picking up such a form of 'management' would certainly bring both of you much good in a sense..?
