Hmm...I assume you are referring to the parents of both parties then? Well...
Mostly the problem occurs on the gal's side. Gal's parents always prefers to have a son-in-law of the same race. Can think of a few reasons lah...for example, easier to communicate, same tradition, same religion, more respect, at least grandchildren must have the same shade of colours as them, and etc.
Same thing can happen on the guy's side as well. But it is often easier for the guy's parents to accept rather than the gal's parents. Hahaha...I think all the gal's father love their daughter very much. Their xin gan bao bei what...so the guy need a lot of luck to pass that stage lor.
If the people against the relationships are merely friends, can ignore them lah...and also none of their business anyway. But I don't think friends will care less if you have a relationship with somebody from a different race. -

Many races are actually proud to be of their kind. In marrying with another race, they somehow have this mentality that it signifies that the other race has some better qualities over their own race. Hence parents (especially of the mindset mentioned above) and relatives often object against that. -

parents are usually the biggest obstacle......they afraid own child might overlook some of the problems caused by cultural differences.....
they have their point and the child's interest at heart.......but they shd oso respect and trust the child's choice.... -

they usually have the mindset that y cant u find someone among your race? do u really have to find someone outside of your race? then theres the communication problem between the parents & the guy/gal whose does not have the same language as them, the older generation also worries about communication between diff culture & tradition practices...& another to note is that older people aka your parents tend to prefer someone their own race cause "kan de shun yan"...thats the old mindset... this only applies to diff races relationship whereby religion is not an issue...for example chinese & indian...
*add-in* i think parents are more biased against people with darker colours...if their son/daughter marries a caucasian, might not be so many obstacles...
if your having a relationship with a diff race with a diff religion, example you're a chinese & you're in love with a malay gal, good luck to u...u will need plenty of it.
but in cases whereby even if the two parties are of the same race, diff religions can also cause conflicts...no need for me to elaborate...u all can find many cases here... -

hihi..... just back from overseas trip wit my bf... well, my parents have got no objections to my relationship cos they believe i'm mature enuf to make decisions for myself.... as my bf, his mother has accepted me(i assume :p) it's not a matter of gd genes of whatever but i feel it's the heart n tots n the etc etc the 2 of u have 4 each other... certainly there'll be conflcts buit i believe even both parties are chinese, there'll also bound to have conflicts... just how they handle & solve them... maybe as time goes by, ppl will gradually accept diff race relationship.. dun u agree??? well, parn... seems that u r my fren cos u seems 2 understand me...
