keeping a stranglehold

i feel that i am constantly under the control and thumb of my parents.
everything i do has to follow their wishes or they will just snap,rant,holler,scream or anything they want at me.
my mum asks me why i want a new camera. i just told her that my current cam has so many flaws. and it was my dad who kept insisting i buy this cam. all their reasoning are like 20years old or something. my mum who has never taken a single photo looks thru all my photos and even thinks a underexposed noisy pic is nice. she thinks only the pros are allowed to buy better cameras. i am only a hobbyist and so i cant. i can only stick to a medicore cam with medicore photos.they think the only way to improve on shots is thru photoshop. wtf are ppl going for courses then? my dad still thinks 2MP is enuf. excuse me? all photo contests require a minimum of 6 or 8MP.
whatever i do, they want to have a hand in it, ruling me with an iron fist. waht they say is the law, nothing else. they always think they are right. alot of times i just give up fighting/arguing with them because their rule or decision is fixed, based on 20year old logic concepts and thinking.
I just hate being under ppl's thumb, living under ppl's shadows, doing what others say.
if u have nothing constructive or relevant, please post elsewhere. because there are ppl who post personal attacks rather than replies -
I bought a sony digicam wif my own money. go to ur room n slam da door .... they sux ...... long distance awy from us ....

it is out of respect of them as parents thats why i dont slam the doors at them and i always seek a peaceful resolve and i want to at least convince them of my case before buying it.

well, i AM using my own money. technically speaking, i am 50% finaciallly independant. apart for sch fees,living expenses,lodging.
i bought my cam with my own savings and i am planning to get my new 1 with my own money. i either get things by saving for them or getting them for free(promos,contests,etc). only big ticket items(extremely rare) then they pay. -
Do your best to please them and be agreeable with them. But of course I won't let you to be the unhappy person in this deal. So you save your own money and get whatever things that is best for yourself. Always must make sure that you can find a way out to make yourself the happiest person at the end of the road.
I don't want you to be rude to your parents, so just allow them to get the best camera which they think is worthy for you. But you make sure that you get the best camera by yourself which you are truly worthy of owning. -
They are your parents after all and you should give them the respect, nobody enjoys being nagged at. But remember they took care of your well-being till this age that you currently are now.
When it is your turn to be a parent, you will come to realise it ain't easy. Cheerios. -
Ya... I know sometimes it'll sucks... But you're their children.. and that's just how life is? You live with them... At least you still are now? Well.. maybe then there will be a cam that's 10000000 times better than this 1 i want to buy

i think i can conclude this matter is over. not that i am no longer under his thumb but i feel there's a bigger problem at home and well, it's time i see the big picture instead of beioing my camera. when it's blown over or something then i think abt it..i mean move on

It means....keep your parents happy and satisfied by showing them your happy and thankful face when they got you the camera which they think is most worthy for you...even though you will feel nah bey chee bye about it inside your heart. So...you must make sure you will get the best camera that you always wanted...the camera that you felt is the truly the most worthy camera for you to own and use. buy don't let them know loh, say the old one spoil liao...if they ask u where, say throw away liao.
but then u how old ? if u are still a minor, naturally they are concerned abt u spending hundreds on a camera and such. -

it's always the case for people around that age.
but if u're alreadi financially independent, and this thing still happen, then it's indeed a sad thing...
spending money is very easy, earning money on the other hand, is not.

It's like that... It happens in ALMOST every family in certain ways to a certain extent unless VERY GOOD relationship has been maintaining between parents and children... Which is even then... Believe me, you're considered quite a fortunate guy already... I've known many who have to feed themselves at your age or younger.. Some even to the extent of supporting family... Their own interest don't even dare pop into their head...
