Yes, I agreed hint is no use. But I feel that when a gal tells the guy the 3 words, will still have to hint first. Cannot out of nowhere say it. Or the guy may later avoid the gal. If you can't do it the direct way and walks away,like as if nothing happened, with any response he gives be it good or bad then I would suggest you give obvious hints....
If his response is no good, like starts to avoid you... or even made it clear to you thn you know that he is not interested.
If his response is good, like started calling you.. asking you out etc thn you might want to just tell him directly and most likely a new form couple
