Anyone affected by massive traffic jams at Causeway?

  Every weekday from 6.30pm-8pm, there is massive and perpetual traffic jams at the Singapore side of the causeway. On Friday nights, this situation excaerbated and the jams contiuned till 11pm++. And >85% of the cars are Sinaporean-registered. Is there anyone who is also affected and frustrated by the jams? Can anyone enlighten me on why Singaporeans flock to JB on weekdays nights?

  there's cheaper stuff there
  they have relations living in malaysia
  they're off there for a weekend's visit to friends
  they're off further up the peninsula
  there's a place to go on a weekend

  Singapore and Malaysia Government need to open more counters at the causeway. The jam is cause more by the inavailability of booths then the inavailability of lanes. Both side has empty booths even during those peak hours. Will they never learn?

  from an insider's point of view: please please please please please tell this to the management... if you didn't notice, the civil service wants to cut manpower...

  Haiz... irony of today's world - retrenchment going on say must be competitive. Then say not enough people to do work and everyone must OT.

  But on weekdays at 8pm??? Visiting relatives and shopping on weekends, I can understand. But on weekday nights? Shopping centres would be closing by the time they could cross the causeway. And most cars have no passengers, only drivers. Don't understand what Singaporeans are up to or thinking of!!!

  I know of many M'sians who cross the causeway daily to come to work in S'pore & go back at night. That maybe one of the reasons for the traffic jam.
  Also many pple go there for supper & shpg cos cheaper & more things to see & do there.
  I rather use the 2nd Link if I have to go M'sia. More expensive but no jam.
