Dear AA,
I am a secondary student who scored 34 points for prelim. As I cannot enter a JC for the first 3 months, my fate has been sealed.
I must now look for a job while my friends will be enjoying themselves in their new school.
I have no choice but to accept the fact that I will grow up to become a professional dominatrix. Please could you give me some advice on where to learn the skills of this trade. I would also appreciate it if you could suggest to me some other better alternatives. Thank YOu

Find a part time job, earn some money... try to get a part time course meanwhile... -

Do not ge so depressed over tis matter? Who knows, mayb for ur actual Os (I presume) u may do better than ur prelims?
Why not u use tis time as a short break from ur studies? Or go find a part time job in the meanwhile.. And consider all ur options... Goin JC or CI, poly etc..
If u got into either, esp poly.. wat course would u lik take up...
For me.. Haha.. i m super lazy.. My prelims re so not very gd.. Mayb can appear into CI, but i didn want, coz my focus is only goin to poly... End up, i spent 6 mths idiling.. coz my parents refused to let me tak up a part time job!
Hmm, not too bad.. but life is so bored! But at least it gave me the time to relax n get ready for poly..

Meanwhile.. can get yourself a temp job.. earn some little money for yourself.. or for some savings.. if you did really well.. then pamper yourself.. No choice?? You do have a choice.. Jus study well.. you still got time.. it's still not late.. ok..

Yes, don't be discouraged.
There are a lot of pple who don't make it but when they get "O' results, they do better, some even make it to JC.
So, don't give up.
U can take up a part-time job in sales/ hotel/ restn. to earn some pocket money & get work experience.
Meantime go for the poly open hse. & check out what courses u like.
Make yr decision after the results are out. -

I got 25 pts for prelims.. end up 10. Friend got 30 pts, end up 10 also. Another mate got 44 also, end up 16, he went to poly. So in the mean time RELAX coz there are HUGE discrepancies between prelims and O levels.
So just do well for ur As yar?
i know it sucks 3 months SUCK ASS. Most likely u will suffer socially even IF u ghet into a JC, coz by then u'll be like outcasted, coz everyone else was 1st 3 months and U weren't and all that crap.. but hey u wouldn't be alone.
in the meantime. get a job.. hmmmz if ur good at art. U could do face-painting at Sculpture Square or at Plaza SG for 50 bucks an hour, painting all sorts of cute rubbish on little children
i did that for a while during june.. beats working at Mac for $3 an hour. -

Study hard yeah... Do it once and do it ur best... Our academic results are only a reflection of the paper that we took at that point in time, it can't stop us from developing our full-blown potential in future papers. As a motivating example, there's this fren who underperformed in Pri Sch and was retained for 1 yr. He went on to Normal Stream in Sec 1, a path that most ppl think is 'the end'. However, he realised one day that if he chose to work hard and do well, he could actually do it. Just put in the effort to understand what the teacher is teaching and do according to the examples. Isn't it all? He really became an outstanding scorer and was transferred to the Express Stream. Ace-ing his O-levels, he went on to a reasonably gd JC. Ace-d his A-levels and went to Uni. He graduated with a gd Honours degree and is on his way to a shining career. How can anyone imagine that this outstanding graduate actually flunk his PSLE before!?!?
After Prelims, there's still the actual O's. Another fren who flunk his A levels retook all the papers while in NS. Impressive determination!!! Of course he succeeded and is now happily attending Uni. Another fren flunk almost 2-3 yrs in Uni and finally succeeded in his 4th yr, another happy graduate. Many turnaround stories that we can learn from.

Don't fret.. JC was the worst time of my life.. in some way i did regret going. It was like being in prison for the two years. -
have fun before school starts. use the time to think about what you really want to do with your life. jc, poly, ci, are not the only institutions. there are art schools, shatec, ect.
