The website Mission Metallica, which launched online May 12, will feature behind-the-scenes footage of the group recording the album. Band members are also expected to give their opinion on the record on the new website.Metallica's new album is due for release this autumn, shortly after their appearance at this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals. Last week, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl wrote an open letter to the band telling them not to release their new LP until it was "kick-ass". Some hope. Many still remember Metallica threatening file sharers with legal action during the Napster days.

Metallica have landed their own radio station.
The XM satellite radio network will start broadcasting Mandatory Metallica shows next week. The shows will feature the band's entire catalogue as well as rare live recordings.
All four members of the band will serve as hosts during the new station's six-week run.
The band's new album, Death Magnetic, is released on 12 September.
