HI want to eat our business
They are bringing a stone and smashing it on their legs by saying this. They have never thought of winning the competition on Singapore-Malaysian routes.
CW1 should 80sen from JB checkpoint to Kranji, I think. The price is about the same as 170. However, they are having a poor business because their boarding berth is located too far. People who get out of the JB checkpoint immigration counter will see 170 berth immediately, followed by 950 berth. CW 1 is about 50~80 metres away. People tend to travel in a more convenient way, thus, will try to walk less. And this might be one of the reason why CW is having a poor business.
Besides, last week I went to Malaysia, I saw that SBST 170X is taking passengers from Kranji MRT. Yes, passengers no need to cross the overhead bridge anymore, they can take 170X from the bus stop beside "This Fashion". Like that, people sure will take the 170X buses, because they no need to cross the road anymore. Nevertheless, passengers still can board 170X, 170 and 160 when they cross the overhead bridge.
On the other hand, CW 1 does provides coin changing services, but their counter in the Kranjin MRT bus stop (opposite one), is a make shift one. Moreover, passengers have to get drenched to reach the counter when it rains. This is also another factor that CW1 is having a poor business.
In JB (towards Singapore):Originally posted by sbst275:What is the berthing arrangement @ JB and WDL??? Sv 170 and SJE is nearest to the exit of the checkpoint???
Weird @ Woodlands... CW nearer but SBS still get lion share... JB Checkpoint can have 4 berths?? CW1 and CW2 together lahOriginally posted by PJ_Quek:In JB (towards Singapore):
Closest will be indicated first: SJESBST 170/160
SMRT 950
CW1

But Golden Mile only has 100 passing by in both directions. I ever suggested to SBST regarding having more bus services @ Golden Mile, but they brushed it off. BTW, have you noticed that 608 passes by Golden Mile, but the rest of the Nicoll Hwy services use Jln Sultan & Kallang Rd?Originally posted by alantanchunshyan:mrt still have to walk quite a distance to beach rd.also beach rd only have sbst100,107 and smrt961 and 980.![]()
not sure why this arrangement eitherOriginally posted by iveco:But Golden Mile only has 100 passing by in both directions. It seems that you don't understand the purpose of Service 985.Originally posted by iveco:i suggested 985 use Guillemard Rd. Lidat it won't duplicate the MRT line.
I guess the reason is that SBST services 10, 14, 16, 70, 196 and 401 can bring more pax to and fro Lavender station, therefore earning more from pax while CSS service 608 cannot as it doesn't serve Lavender station.Originally posted by iveco:But Golden Mile only has 100 passing by in both directions. MERGE?!Originally posted by tranquilice:Service 985 can merge with service 853's Sundays and Public Holidays extended route (between Lor 1 Geylang and Upp East Coast terminal) to become Choa Chu Kang - Upp East Coast.
Service 853 can be extended to Sembawang and no longer terminate at Upp East Coast terminal on Sundays and Public Holidays as this part of the route be covered by service 985.
not a bad idea .Originally posted by tranquilice:Service 985 can merge with service 853's Sundays and Public Holidays extended route (between Lor 1 Geylang and Upp East Coast terminal) to become Choa Chu Kang - Upp East Coast.

You mean duplicating with MRT? (Service 67 duplicates with MRT between Kallang and Bedok).Originally posted by SBS9816E:MERGE?!Goodness! I think both Sv 985 and Sv 853 will suffer. On one hand. extending Sv 985 to Upp East Coast might have the demand. Along the Geylang Rd sector, it would duplicate in one way and another. On the other hand, extending Sv 853 would end up suffering, in terms of frequency, esp at night.
Thanks for support.Originally posted by alantanchunshyan:not a bad idea .
what i mean is the CW, SMRT and SBST berths all join together ( something like Woodland interchange boarding berth, 3 svcs queue together )Originally posted by sbst275:Weird @ Woodlands... CW nearer but SBS still get lion share... JB Checkpoint can have 4 berths?? CW1 and CW2 together lah
OK.. See ya tml... Reply to you tml

SBST275, honestly I think there's something wrong with you up there. A simple post on extending 985 to Suntec City has degenerated into a slugfest about SMRT vs SBST, Handal Indah vs SBST etc etc. If not for these competition would SBST improve their services? Without CW1 or Sv 950 do you think SBST would even bother to bump the frequencies of 170 up and allow 170X to call ADJACENT to Kranji MRT?Originally posted by sbst275:CW1 should charge $0.85 (Kota Raya) and $1.15 (Larkin) to complete with 170... Fares should be based on card fares
Sv 950, CW1, CW2 are just clogging the Checkpoint..... All never fully utitlised, worst is that the Checkpoint which is not well ventilated already, have CW1, CW2 and 950 waiting there for at least 10 mins to get utitilised... SBS and SJE (Most of the time) need not
Fine Fine FineOriginally posted by SBS9818A:SBST275, honestly I think there's something wrong with you up there. And I am really inclined to think you haven't taken services like 965 or 969. I'm a relatively regular passenger of 969 and let me tell you, it has high passenger loads even during off peak hours. I strongly urge you not to go around spewing your vitirol when you don't even know what is going on in the first place.
There is NO LOGIC in Sv 966 going into Bukit Panjang as there are SO MANY alternative services available to Woodlands, such as Sv 187 and Sv 960. Moreover, do you think it would be effective to make Sv 966 running time longer? Its main purpose is to link Marine Parade and Woodlands within an hour and if it were to go inside Bukit Panjang, the purpose is being defeated!Originally posted by sbst275:Like Sv 966... Express all the way to TAP from WDL... Didn't stop at BPJ.... Serves them right
Sv 950 is more ex (In this sense) from Kota Raya to WDL Ctr than 170X-170R connection... As the fare stage is like this
Sv 170X
9.0 Kota Raya
9.5 JB Checkpoint
10.0 WDL Checkpoint
10.5 WDL Ctr Rd (Opp Blk 1A)
Sv 950
1.0 Kota Raya
2.5 JB Checkpoint
4.0 WDL Chkpt
5.0 WDL Ctr Rd (Opp Blk 1A)
Worst is making Sv 950 frequency @ 10 mins... When SBS is 2-3 mins... On Mon because of jam, Sv 170 was 1-7 mins... Sv 950 was dragged to 20 mins
Again, your intelligence (or lack thereof) rears its ugly head. SBST has recently increased its JB fleet to EIGHTY buses. How on earth do you expect them to cope with 60 buses for three seperate routes?Originally posted by sbst275:Fine Fine Fine
9818, you may pleased to know that bef or after the compeition, the no of buses for SBS JB rts remains @ 60 (The total fleet size)

Yes. But if I use Bus Concession to enter Malaysia, I just see which bus come first at WDL, regardless 160, 170 or 950Originally posted by sbst275:But dif bay lah?
Just a suggestion for 966 only. Maybe another route call 967 can solve the problem. 967: CCKOriginally posted by SBS9818A:There is NO LOGIC in Sv 966 going into Bukit Panjang as there are SO MANY alternative services available to Woodlands, such as Sv 187 and Sv 960. And I don't think you realise the problems Sv 950 is facing now, the service is temporarily short of qualified drivers. Quit blaming SMRT for every little problem that surfaces. If you think you're that good, go create your own bus company and we'll see how you perform.
