This prove one thing ,Originally posted by my@jas:I have ever suggested to SBST to extend Svc 161 to CCK via BKE & KJE. But they replied that it's not possible to pass through 2 TIBS-controlled int/areas as stated in the LTA code or somrthing like that.
It was Tibs who introduced YIS feeders and YIS trunks (85x series). They also introduced new routes between SKG and city but had to give them up because SBS won the NEL tender.Originally posted by phillipC:This prove one thing ,
there isnt any competition at all in the land transport services.
Yes, also heard from SBST that for them to operate in the SMRT's territories, they must have the cooperation and support of SMRT.
Damn it!
SMRT has never grown!
All it is capable of doing is to take the established bus routes by SBST and snatched away!
For example, woodlands services, follow by Bt panjang, then CCK & BB.
Dunt know what excuse it will give for the next round of taking over sbst route (if any.)
A company that is fed by the govt will never grow.
Just look at the no. of new services they introduced in the past years. Hardly more than 5 in the past 4 or 5 years.
besides the yishun services, anything else you can think of since its inception?Originally posted by iveco:It was Tibs who introduced YIS feeders and YIS trunks (85x series). They also introduced new routes between SKG and city but had to give them up because SBS won the NEL tender.
The introduction of svc 970 in Bt Panjang, 950 in Woodlands, 96x series svcs also in Woodlands..Originally posted by phillipC:besides the yishun services, anything else you can think of since its inception?
970 is a repackaging of service 5.Originally posted by icydevilvic88:The introduction of svc 970 in Bt Panjang, 950 in Woodlands, 96x series svcs also in Woodlands..![]()
Unless SMRTB is willing to buy more such bendy buses. Actually svc 187 and 190 should also have full bendy fleets during peak hour IMO, but too bad, i think SMRTB really too budget liao. that's why this is the case.Originally posted by LazerLordz:We should have Bendys on 171 and 700A during the peak periods. The buses are too clogged as it is.They should switch with 184, whose capacity and radius does not even come close to the routes travelled by 171 and 700A, through Orchard Road and CBD respectively.
If SMRT has its limitations than, PTC should not have stopped SBST from extending its services to SMRT-controlled areas.Originally posted by off_service:Before I see more and more childish comments, please think why SMRT Buses are not having new buses or services?
4. Companies have their own limitations and you can't expect everything to go your way. You need time to make changes. Rome is not built in one day.
Man, how many times must I repeat all these...

Personally i think LTA and PTC obviously goof up..SMRTB or TIBS did not have enough resources and yet they hand over the services from SBST to them..no doubt they probably did their planning and all that but obviously they ahve mader many wrong assumptions for matters to end up the way they did..Originally posted by off_service:Before I see more and more childish comments, please think why SMRT Buses are not having new buses or services?
1. None of the buses are reaching the 17 year limit.
2. Do you think they have enough spaces for more buses? The parking lots at 3 depots and 2 interchanges are already exhausting. Where do you expect the new buses to park and to be maintained? If little are bought, there will be complaints of "not enough bus of the same model" and too many bought, words like "Too many of same model makes things boring (Think Mercedes and Volvo)" will be heard. It's hard to please everyone.
3. As much as many of us doesn't like the UDs, it's one of the way to utilise the existing resources. Just make do with it.

Allowing SBS to run a subway line was a big gaffe. Rail resources are better managed by a single entity. Even Melbourne, a much larger city, has only a single rail operator. As for bus services, it is possible to have a handful of operators, depending on the size of the city. It is possible to have up to 3 of them in Singapore, since Perth, despite its smaller size, has one bus operator more than we do.Originally posted by rancour5:Personally i think LTA and PTC obviously goof up..SMRTB or TIBS did not have enough resources and yet they hand over the services from SBST to them..no doubt they probably did their planning and all that but obviously they ahve mader many wrong assumptions for matters to end up the way they did..
Melbourne's TRAMS was once operated by two companies, National Express and Yarra trams. But came 2002, the National Express which somehwhat was like SBS (control most services), pull out of their contract. So, Yarra trams took over for trams, and Connex group took over railwaysOriginally posted by iveco:Allowing SBS to run a subway line was a big gaffe. PTC/LTA or the relevant authority just don't want to admit the bloody mistake so openly!Originally posted by rancour5:Personally i think LTA and PTC obviously goof up..SMRTB or TIBS did not have enough resources and yet they hand over the services from SBST to them..no doubt they probably did their planning and all that but obviously they ahve mader many wrong assumptions for matters to end up the way they did..
When the services were handed over, i understand that it was to improve the transport system..but from what i see, it seems to have DEPROVE the system as a whole..
I think you need to confirm this with SMRT. Hopefully, there will be a feeder service linking Senja and Segar areas.Originally posted by phillipC:[quote]Originally posted by PJ_Quek:
Write to LTA also, since LTA is responsible for the building of BI right?
BPJ need a bus to go to SKG. For instance:
New feeder service, maybe don't call along Bukit Panjang Rd, but in call along Senja Rd (West Spring Sec Sch and Zhenghua Sec Sch, these 2 schools are some distance away from LRT ) and loop at Segar Rd before heading back to BPJ BI. However, these areas are not fully developed yet, ridership might not enough.
hi PJ Quek,
I recently saw bus stops build up along Senja road, is SMRT going to have a feeder service there?
Hmm.. A few days back i also saw bus stops at both outside and opposite senja grand, blk 628. I do really hope that there is a feeder service linking not only senja and segar area but also jelapang area (jelapang rd) ever since TIBS service 345 is withdrawn after the LRT is built. All these 3 areas have a distance away from both the LRT stations and bus stops.Originally posted by phillipC:[quote]Originally posted by PJ_Quek:

I think its good so that the West view Pri and West Spring Sec got bus to go to their Respective school.Originally posted by phillipC:Sv 920 will divert to serve the Senja Road residents on 29 May 2005.
Posters out at the bus stops.
Will skip the pair of bus stop along Ring Road.
Too bad for Segar residents, still have to walk to take LRT to get to the main road- BT panjang road.
Cannot. Woodlands area really need these bendies. Look at the feeders. Usually packed. Becoz itz da only way to get from the estates to the main town centre....furthermore, Woodlands is a huge regional centre like Tampines n Jurong.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Take the Bendys away from the Woodlands services and put a few on the busy services to and fro town.
Yes. Woodlands services, like their Yishun counterparts, need Bendies to function as well. It'll be chaotic if the Bendies are replaced with normal SDsOriginally posted by muziq bus:Cannot.
