Volvo wins Singapore order for 150 buses
STOCKHOLM, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Swedish truck and bus maker Volvo said on Tuesday it won an order for 150 double-deck buses from Singapore's largest public bus operator SBS Transit.
Deliveries of the vehicles will start in August 2005 and continue for 12 months, Volvo said. It did not give a value of the deal.
i really hope it's the Transbus Enviro500, it's so beautiful, i took a ride in a KMB bus in HK recently, a real stunner!Originally posted by SBS9818A:Probably some "Envipano" local bodywork or hopefully the Enviro500 kit.![]()
It's typical fleet replacement cycle, one new DD for one old DD scrapped.Originally posted by SBS3624G:Are SDs going out of fashion?
I think VO2X is older? Maybe SBST wants to phase out the NAC buses quicker.Originally posted by ah_kwang:Anyway, just wondering if it is possible that they new DD will replace the Mk2s. But I hope not and i'm don't think it will. But it's quite funny that SBST are to replace the Mk2s by next year and yet there had been no confirmed orders for the Mercs O500 or any other SD. Instead, they are ordering DDs when the oldest (LO3X) are still quite far from being removed from the fleet. What do you guys think?
LO2x is older than LO3x la.Originally posted by SBS3624G:I thought LO3X older?
I thought the VOs came succesively?
I doubt the L94UBs are still under production lines.Originally posted by iveco:I think SBST should consider bringing in more L94UBs. They are the most logical replacement for the CRBs in 2006/7. LC Dysons and a few other bus lines in Melbourne use them. In fact, the L94UBs form their main fleet.
If Scania is the world's sole supplier of Hydrogen Fuel Cell buses, I believe we will see more Scania buses around. Any bus with the "Scania" brand will always find its way into my list of favourite buses.![]()
