Why do buses or large vehicles have 'double wheeles'at the back????

2 reasons.
1. To support the weight of the vehicle.
2. To increase traction. -

What public bus transport you are seeing in Singapore is already one of the best in the world already. What more do you want. As long as got bus come regularly and able to reach my bus stop promptly, im satisfied liao. In fact sometimes non air-con buses are better smelling than air-con ones. Let those bad odours go away, more ventilation.

from my observation, it appears the middle axle for most tri-axle buses is really free-turning. -

heat from within the engine is removed by passing coolant water through pockets running between cylinders in the engine. the heat retained by the water going out of the engine is then "blown away" by the radiator.
the hissing sound is made by..... the compressed air tank. as the air compressor continually compresses air as the engine runs and feeds it into the air tank, the pressure inside will increase so the tank will routinely release some compressed air out together with moisture that will accumulate inside the tank due to condensation (the air compressor is hot with all the running). -
Why has 1921 been spotted of late? It has supposedly been scrapped after getting burnt, hasn't it? Don't tell me it has been hibernating in BBDEP and recently refurbished?

a turbocharger increases the power and torque of an engine by using the rapid vortex flow of exhaust gas to drive a turbine that compresses the air intake of the engine to allow more air (and hence oxygen) per unit volume of air, hence allowing the fuel to burn with a higher efficiency. it also helps by allowing more fuel to be burnt per unit time, thus resulting in more power.Originally posted by SBS1908B:Pray, how does a turbo-charger work, and what is it used for? typically u will get a performance boost of 30%-40% over a non-turbocharged version of the same engine.
most newer buses nowadays have a turbocharger fitted. one special bus chassis worth mentioning is the Mercedes-Benz O.405 (both SBST and SMRT), which have no turbocharger fitted. the O.405G bendies use a turbo-charged version of the same engine used in the O.405.
turbocharger can be recognised by a whistle that is more obvious and higher in pitch at higher engine rpms. try listening to the Dennis Lance and u will understand.

SBS2754X on 168, the exit door is similar to the exit door of SMRT's Habits, ie. opening outwards. Is this the only SBST bus with such exit door design?
