Reason is VERY SIMPLE.. Upp East Coast bur Terminal is not designed to HANDLE SO MANY SERVICES.. building a Bus Int/Ter is teh same as building An Airport.. certain sizes can only handle a certain number of services...

well, LTA like most government agencies is rich. They must build new stuff to support our economy, just like road works that are on in every corner of Singapore all year round and the new expressways blah

Upp East Coast Terminal was built to replace Marine Parade Ter. However, after it was built, SBST decided to continue the loop svc for 16,55,76,135,155 at Siglap Rd as it reduces the number of buses of these particular svcs and improves efficiency. I have written to ask them to extend sv229 to there for looping but they say "No, it will result in an increase travel time & ..."

Why let Svc 13 end there? It isn't that long after all. Svc 16 should terminate somewhere. Ask yourself: Must ALL Marine Parade services terminate there, resulting in unnecessary duplication?
Upper East Coast Terminal may seem a bit under-utilised now, but have you tried looking into possible future route amendments which may cause some services to terminate there. And at least, a structure has been erected, rather than let svc 13 just parking by the roadside. SBST will have reasons as to why svc 13 was chosen. It has been stated that loop services, especially long-distance ones, are harder to keep to the timetable schedule. -

sv16 SHOULD TERMINATE at Bukit Merah Int and tt should be it. Please note tt the reason why sv16 is a LOOP svc coz it's a HIGH demand svc especially in the mornings! i think the terminal is a waste of land use. The piece of land can be used to build houses or park for the residences near there. Just allow sv 13 and 853 to terminate somewhere.

if want to keep the terminal allow more sevices to terminate there and make it fully utilised.

The terminal has berths for 8 services, which means 6 more services can terminate there.

BNDEP used to control services terminating at Marine Parade terminal. Service 16 was controlled by BNDEP and ARBP in the past, which explained the Scania CRBs and MK4 Striders, not sure about DM3500s.
