seriously..i dun tink express services shld be called express..in my opinion if a bus is ever caught in a traffic jam..its nt an express bus..n i tink the blardi fare is not worth the time u waste in jams..

521 had to be downgraded from express to trunk precisely because the demand was poor and it's not making money. it had enough demand only when it was extended to woodlands and accepted trunk fare when it was renumbered 963. same thing with 520 which eventually got withdrawn.
so, at this moment, the only bus tat looked the most likely to get downgraded is actually 506, but even i dun think it will kena tat soon.
anyway, if 502 were to be converted to a regular trunk service, the whole service might get withdrawn all together due to duplication with MRT. there is a condition for it to be an express service. -
Talking about Express services....i think the "e" in 97e means express rite..SBST calls it a "fast forward" service....It is no different from Express 507 last time.......except with regard to its fares and small difference in route (which i think it is irrelevant) .....if i m not mistaken, 97e charge trunk service fares......so it makes me wonder, just how can SBST substantiate its operations of its express services, given that there are now more trunk services serving long "express" sectors.

service 23 is a long route too..... into expressway from Temasek Ply and out at Bendemmer Road...loop at rochor canal road .........then go into expressway from Serangoo Road and out at Temasek.....and to Tampinese interchange.

I wrote in to SBST to request for a stop at Holland V, at the time when 502 was terminating at Boon Lay and Seng Kang.
My sis stayed in Seng kang, thus I feel goondu that I could board 502 only at Orchard.
Unfortunately they decided to have the stop at Holland V after the cutback from Seng Kang to Suntec. And since then I do not take 502 any more.
Anyway we still need 502 to Boon Lay, for those who prefer bus over train ride. -

The best example of "downgrading" of Express to Trunk service is 963. From a fleet consisting of only 1 or no bendies, it shot up to a fleet which included 7 or 8 bendies.
Speaking of loads, it's at least twice the amount of Express 521. And I mean at least. -
Hope Express 506 can really be downgraded to a trunk service as you can see, Express 506 plies a journey on PIE(from Toa Payoh to Eunos) as long as Service 966. Yet there is a great difference in price.

Service 502 skips the stops which has almost no passengers.. like holland rd.. might as well dont skip..
Express Services are "Premium" services introduced to commuters who are willing to pay ectra for a faster,comfortable ride home or to elsewhere on a bus with lower assenger loads, like 506 in the afternoons.
506 always filled to the door on morning peak, then in the afternoons, 10 pax is the best they can get. also, 518 is also popular to tampines residents and the buses are quite crowded. CT svcs are also considered Express svcs.
502, funnily, it has many passengers at night, but normally, its useless
yeah. 502 should become trunk. Last time i took 501 fm SKG to Suntec via shenton way took 1 hr ++.. call that express?
most of SMRT svcs uses the expressway.. imagine if they all becomes express... -

506: Bedok to J East 228 sen
for adults, its a 75 cents premium but its worth it for the short term. last time i took 511/512 almost weekly back home from suntec/orchard.. now i really missed them..

You cannot compare SBST Express 506 with SMRT service 966. 501 and 502 (SKG) were the worst express svcs.
time taken to reach AMK ave 1 from SKG Int is about 1 hour!! the buses were slow and heavy VO3x and the journey to City is 1 hr 30mins+ ! Call that express! some more so many ppl go and take it.. -
