The only bus that stop in front of Queenstown Library is svc 32 from Buona Vista. The shortest route is to take MRT.

You forgot service 31. On the same day service 149 was withdrawn, service 31 replaced its route between Old Airport Rd and Toa Payoh.
Was service 186 introduced as a result of the shortening of service 185 to Jln Anak Bukit, or the two have no relationship at all? -

Also, I've done my sums. It will be of equal length to Svc 14 in terms of fare stages (43+44). Bigger area than 14, but same distance. After all, BDK has direct bus links with CLE/JUR/BNL, but CLE only has links to BDK. It's last remaining connection with TAM disappeared with Svc 10 shortened to KTR. -

Extending 54 serves little benefits, as at present Clementi, Commonwealth have great access to Chinatown, Orchard and Bishan. SBST12 used to terminate at Buona Vista, and it used to travel Margaret Dr to Queenstown Library. It seems impossible for SBST to extend that route now to Clementi.
I would definitely wish to have as many routes plying along COmmonwealth Ave. However extending 54 and 12 does not seems feasible, my humble view.
How's about amending SBST198 to travel from North Buona Vista, Commonwealth Ave, Alexandra Road (IKEA), Jalan Bukit Merah and Bukit Merah Interchange.
With that, Clementi residents can board the bus at AYE, and alight at Commonwealth Ave to Queenstown Library. ANd Clementi and Holland residents can now have direct bus to IKEA. -

I did put up this request to SBST, but no reply from them. And I had read somewhere here that someone had put up the same request to SBST too. BTW, I had longed for a bus route that ply along (Kent Ridge or Clementi),...,North Buona Vista (Buona Vista MRT), Holland Road, Sixth Ave, Dunern Rd, Bukit Timah Road, Serangoon Road,..., (Suntec or Raffles Place or New Bridge Road)...
I always feel there is a need for a closer MRT linkage between Sixth ave, and those institutions along dunern and bukit timah road (smu).
Any supporters?

We have brought up your suggestion to our Planners and they have reverted that the suggested route for Service 198 will affect existing passengers using the service along Queensway (between C'Wealth Ave and Alexandra Rd). The Ikea connection is provided by Service 198 along Jln Bt Merah whereby they need to alight at the stop outside the former Bt Merah SAFRA and walk round the corner to get to Ikea.
Currently the Clementi/Buona Vista and Outram Park (New Bridge Rd) and Raffles Place connection is provided by the MRT. The suggested new routing will not provide a faster alternative to the MRT as it has to serve Holland Rd, Sixth Ave, Dunearn Rd/Bt Timah corridor enroute. Movement between the suggested areas could be made by only 1 transfer which is necessary in the absence of the direct bus link.
