U mean this bus?Originally posted by redstone:One type, very old model with a single externally sliding rear pasenger door, very noisy and shaky engine in Trans Island paint.
I recently saw one, 825 painted in the SMRT paint.
Any pics of it still in Trans Island paint?
Last seen one in Yishun, heading towards interchange.
Thanks in advance!![]()
Dun forget tat 920 & 921 also have such buses around.. It is now very common to have such buses around in Bt Panjang.. redstone, if u wanna take pics of this kind of buses, u can come down anytime of any day to Bt Panjang Interchange and confirm 100% +1% u will sure see such buses around, except on Sundays where the 3 MB & 1 Scania may come back for revenue svc for 920 & 921.. (Hmm.. think these 4 buses miss 920 & 921 too much le so decided to come back for svc.. hehex.. IMO onli..)Originally posted by ^tamago^:there are about 20 of them still with SMRTB, but few are actually in revenue service as most are used as training buses. they do come out sometimes on 187, 852 and 853. i noe 853 has a permer, 377X, but i dun see it often.
this type of bus is known as Nissan U31RCN (OAC or Originally Air-con). Gearbox is ZF 4HP500. Bodywork from Fuji Heavy Industries.
the buses are slated for retirement latest by 2010, though it can always happen before that if SMRTB chooses to do so.
Redstone, if you wan more, go to Geylang Lorong 1 Fringe carpark, the SSB depot is there. The whole CSS608 fleet is there, you can see until u xian ah! btw if you wan to go, take MRT to Kallang, cross the road. The buses are parked there. CSS 608 serves Bedok and Bukit Merah, bypassing MArine Parade, Stadium, Shenton Way, Chinatown, Havelock...Originally posted by redstone:Oh, THAT'S the one!
Any more?
They are rather 'endangered', I think. I saw one, Number 825 is SMRT paint, and modern display panels in the front.
