Hi everyone, this is my first post in this exclusive forum. I hope to chat with you guys often. :-)

Btw, I would like to know which/what type of buses is your favourite. Here is my fav collection:

now not so new..

VSO is good, the only prob is that some have strong diesel smell Sad

my fav bus is 479D on 231W, don;t know why but it could be because i've been taking this bus to school in 2003 and 2004, along with 447X. Razz

See my signature, my all time fav along with the CRBs, both fast and reliable. Except the CRBs dun look so appealing now. Others include all MB0405s and VO3Xs.

Hi Volvo Olympian, nice to meet you with almost a similar name! I'm surprised that the Nissan Diesel U31SCN is still around, though they were listed retired in the old TIBS website, any idea why there is a 'hook' at the back?

As for the VO and LO's, they were quite sensational back in the 1990's, but now replaced by VCNG. Performanced wise, the Scania 113 still pack that potential punch whenrever it went full throttle! You can feel slight G's, cool!! Smile

The buses that I like best is Volvo Olympian 3 - Axles (9601-9670). I like the bright white lights in the bus when I was travelling in the night or in the early morning. They just make the whole buses very bright which gives me a very good environment for me to study while I am on my way to school. Besides that, these buses also have televisions for me to watch. And, I also like the sound of this type of buses. The sound is very clear and sounds like music to me.

I also like Volvo Olympian 3 - Axles (9582 to 9600 except for 9587). All these buses initially have telephones last time but I don't know why SBST removes them. Besides that, there are three bars diverging from a thick metal bar and converge again to form another thick metal bar near the standing area in the buses instead of the usual two bars.

Bus 9542 is quite a special bus because I think that this is the only bus that in the standing area, the bars are straight to the ground rather than diverging and converging.

It seems to me that the Toa Payoh scania 113 feeder services is going to extinct, being replaced by MB 0405 DM. Where have they gone to? Question

all moved over to BNDEP...now only 238 has Scanias left.

SBST: VO3X is best, took them almost everyday. The last two rows of seats at the upper deck have the aircon duct for people to rest their legs ( one leg only, but good enough ). Strider is the worse, can't chiong, even at expressway also lose to VO.

SMRT all are good, all can travel at high speed. Nevertheless, their frequency is not as good as SBST one.

My favourite SBST bus is... Volvo MkIV DM3500 and Dennis Tridents... I prefer certain SBST models over SMRT. But I must agree that strider really isn't a strider at all... slow poke.... I don't like 0.405 because their engines are so LOUD. Sometimes I feel mk.3 might more gentler (but maybe too gentle)...

SMRT models are very nice. I like the Dennis Lance(not malaysia one) and their scanias(can feel the G's).

I love VO , VSO and Tridents. Given a choice, I think I will go for Trident .... love her sheer power of her. Took more tridents on 89 now adays and my like of her is getting stronger.

Sorry for my ignorance, where is that place? Indeed, only service 238 had it. For trunk services, 155 has all the Scania 113's. Gotta miss them at TP.

Btw, talking about the strider...it is slow in acceleration and doesn't take enough Stride to make up for its name....

As for the MB0405, I agreed with ah_kwang about its noisey tune.....Every morning, instead of hearing people's alarm clock ringing..you know what I hear...............A MB0405 ALARM!!!

Frankly speaking , I find scania SBST's buses horrible, but I can understand why u guys like it ? Power ? I can't wait to see the last of them, am absolutely sick and disgusted with the OACs , sorry to say this. CAC's are not too bad.

Scania OAC = Elbo TIBs = Worst comfort

I go for comfort first then speed or anything else.

I like SMRT Dennis Lances.. they are as good as SBST Scanias. I also like SBST Scanias.

Volvo MK4s boring la... everyday must see them, so many of them. ZZzzzzz

I like:

1) SMRT Volgren O405's single deckers and bendies..so classy.
2) I also like SMRT Scanias 113 crl for the pick up.
3) Hispano O405s.. very speedy buses.. can duel with SBST scanias
4) SBST O405s.. i like the engine sound.

I wish there are more Lances in Woodlands int. Why only a few only ah? More like cameos.

I wish there are Scanias on sv 161 and 168 cos i wanna taste that silky smooth ride on the expressway.

SBST should buy more mercs buses! Volvos boring la..!

I wish SBST bring back Volvo B57s and OF1417s.. quite fond of those buses.. hehe.. Very Happy

Yup, MB0405s are noisy. Sometimes cannot sleep when SMRT MB0405s and SBST MB0405s race around outside my house. But, they are very powerful. The CRBs are the opposite, dun hear them unless you push them real hard, then they will hiss. The LO3X and the VO3X are very stable even close to 70km/h. Hence I like them too.
It is not true that the mkIVs are slow-pokes, on the contrary, they can be faster if in the hands of furious drivers. But generally, the mkIVs already sound scary when it reaches 60km/h.

Have a question: Are there 2 types of mkIIIs, I find that some mkIIIs sound like mkIIs minus the beginning whine, and others sound like the mkIV dm3500. The latter sound horrible and picks up damn slow, while the former has performance like the mkIV dm3500.

Charles, I understand how you feel. I personally cannot wait for the B10Ms to go.

There are no 2 types of MK3s, all Mk3s are the same. The 2 types you are talking about must be the fact that different gearboxes are installed in the Mk3s. Most Mk3s have Voith gearboxes and sound like the Mk4 DM3500 (very long, drawn out first gear, only 3 gears). Only 2 Mk3s have ZF gearboxes (short first gear, sound like Mk2s and Mk4 DMs and Striders, 4 gears), 876R and 877M. 876R is BN31 and 877M is AR195. Nice buses since they seem to have better performance than Voith Mk3s

i tink SBS837D has a gear change too. sounds kinda weird... check it out...
