when did the old toa payoh interchange appear?
because according to the bus guides 1979-80 at sgwiki, toa payoh services began from an ambiguous location at "toa payoh centre". in present day terms, where is the starting point?
why did the services then need to go a big loop about lor 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 back then? I know there used to be a single loop service 230 which served the whole toa payoh. so how did the 231G/W, former 232G/W, 235, 237 and 238 originate from all these services?
services operating from toa payoh in 1979-80:
73 (from yck), 135 (upp changi rd 13.3km), 137 (zoo), 139 (bt merah), 140 (prince edward rd), 141 (prince edward rd), 143 (jurong east 16.2km), 144 (c'wealth ave), 145 (pasir panjang), 146 (pasir panjang), 147 (c'wealth ave), 148 (c'wealth ave), 149 (prince edward rd), 150 (crawford st), 151(new bridge rd), 152 (bedok), 153 (bt merah), 155 (upp changi rd 13.3km), 156 (upp serangoon rd), 157 (jurong), 158 (kampong chai chee), 159 (ang mo kio), 230 (feeder), Stadium sv B.
i.e. 14x n 15x series were historically toa payoh routes?
was there a 142 before 1979, i.e. before sbs was formed? or it only came about as a potong pasir service later and stayed since? how about 154, was it a toa payoh service before extended to macpherson?
