  Then I suggest that SMRT can be a takeover target by the Connex Group. There is no reason why Singapore companies can have foreign assets and foreigners are restricted from buying a major share in Singapore companies.

  Well, Connex owning SMRT is better than ComfortDelGro. If there is an anti-trust watchdog or fair trade commision in Singapore, the rumoured merger between ComfortDelGro and SMRT would never take place at all.

  Whatever the case, I am sure Connex can do better managing SMRT's bus and rail services due to economy of scale. If I owned shares in SMRT and Connex wanted a huge chunk of the company, I'd only be too happy to oblige.

  SMRT is a public listed company, whose shareholders are listed in the link I have provided above. Is there a need to post unfounded rumours here?
  
  SBS obligation to hand over services is related to the NEL rationalisation, where SBS is given the north east corridor, and in return, SBS has to surrender the North West corridor to TIBS.
