I just came back from HK and I am very impressed with their bus set up there. I would like to know all the bus fleets in HK.
I know Dennis Trident , VO and LO , what other fleets do they have in HK ?

Other than tt HK has 3 major bus operators: KMB, NWFB,Citybus
These 3 companies use a variety of buses & they do swop buses often thru sale to each other coys. NWFB & Citybus are related, i tink owned by a coy called Chow Tai Fook.
NWFB uses Dennis Dragons, Neoplans, Dennis Tridents, 10.3M,12M respectively.
Citybus fleet has VOs,Dennis Dragons10.3M,Man buses, SDs like Dennis buses on sv6,6A,6X,260,12M,25A
KMBs buses are the newest: TRansbus Enviro500, VOs,VSOs, Dennis Dragons... click on the above website for more...
Fyi, they dun have an interchange like ours, their int/terminals is by the roadside for most of their svcs. However, for major places like Admiralty Center, they have a central parking space but the parking arrangement is like a roadside terminal...
KMB serves mainly Kowloon side but for svcs with prefix '1','6','9' cross harbour svcs, they serve HK island side also.
This goes the same for Citybus, NWFB which serves mainly HK island side... -

Interesting to know is that there used to be 100 ex-SBS LAs in CityBus bet 1993-1998 -
In fact, the Airport rt is runned by Tridents...
CityBus and NWFS are under NWS Hldg
KMB, LWB is under KMB (1933) Ltd
KCRC is a rail operator also, in fact, their buses are for the free feeder transfer services (But bus interior kinda old loh)
Also, there have buses with A, B, C, D, E, F, G... But they are not SWT, they run totally dif rts -

BTW if u r in HK, drop by the Star Ferry near Tsimshatshui, go to the KMB stand, there are a lot of KMB bus models, in addition, if u present ur passport, u get a KMB souvenir.
Airport buses A11,A12,A21,A22 run by Citybus. the buses have luggage storage area on the lower deck. The seats on the upper deck have foot rest & blinds can be lowered to keep out the glare. Whatmore, the buses also give a short commentary when u r on Tsing Ma Bridge and also announcing the nus stops.

The 100 plus ex-SBS LAs were purchases by Citybus to meet the shortfall in their fleet after they were awarded the Franchise routes. All are phased out liao. -

Ah....talk about Hkg buses, made me remember of a family trip to the island in the late 90's.
On the way to The Peak, we took an old Leyland Olympian (didn't manage to check what model) up around the mountain road, passing by bungalows, apartments at great speed that at one moment........WhooSh, down a steep road with the cool mountain wind blowing at my face!!!! Cool and totally satisfied
Few days later, took a blue-white Leyland model (Sorry, didn't manage to check the model again) to an industrial like outskirt near Aberdeen for a visit to a factory outlet. After alighting at the bus-stop, my family went to search this place to no avail. Dissappointed, we were searching for a bus-stop when a blue white Leyland came chugging and stop right in front of us.
The doors flip opened and BOY were we astonished! It was the same bus we took minutes before!! The bus driver told us that the factory outlet has been closed due to poor sales, and apologised for not telling us......We asked him why he stop for us despite we're not standing at a proper bus-stop..
And, the answer was simple....the nearest bus stop was still far from our present location and decided to give us a lift.....and yessiree, the return bus ride came free with no charge at all!......Despite our offers to pay him....

Wah, wrote such a long story......bet this could be the longest post I've written! These are some of my experiences I've encountered and always be remembered. Next time you go to HK, feel the experience of the bus services there!

HK buses do not free svc guides to distribute but the buses have guides posted bhind the drivers cab for all to c. In addition ALL bus stops have route details nt like Singapore where only selected bs have guides! KMB buses have route announcements for their newer buses, it's in English, Chinese, Cantonese. Ik u r in HK, do take NWFB sv15 to the peak, wah lau! the drivers speed on 2-lane narrow roads & when u peer out of the window, u can c the HK skyline below, v v nice! The BCs are very skillful & good at navigating v v tight corners!

the main reason of "low" DD is that to pass through the "jardine bridge" near the Peak
the engine of those tridents,some of them using Cummins M11-305E,
Voith863.3 gearbox
and 20 of them using Cummins ISMe 335(euro3), and Voith 864.3 gearbox
these 20 Dennis trident are more powerful

1 LA is still around as training bus unless it has been gone (P.S, yah has been gone liao aft 1998... Hmm, but where are the BACO ex- SBS LAs) -
CityBus brought the 100 LA from SBS as a stop - gap measure of shortage of buses in 1993 as they took over 26 buses from CMB. These rts were grouped into "Network - 26"...
In 1998, CMB totally closed down... NWS Hldg went to bid for the remaining rts and set up New World First Bus (Xin Ba in Chinese, ironically it is the same chinese name for SBS'7 -

Well, I have a friend who talked to the drivers in HK. The well-liked buses are the VO , LO and Trient and the unpopular bus is the scania dd bus. Similar problems with the scania n113crb , too shakey and light to handle.
Interesting fact about the LO 3 axles there is that they used Volvo steering wheel ! -
How much? How long is the journey to reach shenzhen border?

Even the 0305, they took only 40 aft 1 demostrator... SBS took 200
