Then we'd still be seeing DDs on 61 & 190. 106 would have been a loop service from BBT to Suntec City.
There would be no need for tibs to merge with SMRT.
Obviously
84 & 864 would compete like 25 & 854.
Obviously
82 would still deviate via PGL MRT like 167 in SBW. PGL End Ter retained. No drastic cuts.
Unsure of this one
163 would still be extended to SKG via Fernvale. Jln Kayu Ter remain open. 103 & 147 fight it out.
Would Tibs have introduced feeders like 371 & merge it with 163 in later years? And how would they have numbered the feeders?
865 would have to bite the dust anyway.
Inevitable
PGL would be off-limits to 3, 62 & 136.
136 is a tricky issue with the extension of Upp S'goon Rd to SKG. Wonder how the operators would have sorted it out
No Svc 84 (New), Svc 83 (863?) to operate from SKG & loop ard PGL estate like 859 & 962.
PGL status would be like SBW. An extension of SKG
Tibs would have to introduce its own express services from SKG Int to city.
definitely
SKG would be off-limits to 27, 156 & 159. But SBS could consider extending 27 to HGN direct. SKG would have 27, 88 & 89 like BBT having 66, 157, 174 & 506 today.
maybe
New routes to connect SKG Int with the rest of SG.
How? Like 156? Maybe SBS 87 would be Tibs 867, who knows
I think you are talking way too off...Originally posted by SBS9611D:There would be no need for SBS to hand over its northwest sector to Tibs at all.

It was darn obvious that Tibs would lose the bid right from Day 1. Having spent a great deal of money on expanding and upgrading their fleet, I wouldn't expect them to come up with the amount needed to win the tender. SMRT was not at all involved in the whole exercise, but I feel they should have been given the licence to operate the NEL.Originally posted by sbst275:I think you are talking way too off...
The tender WAS ONLY BETWEEN SBS AND TIBS and NOT SMRT![]()
Nope... It was based on their proposal...Originally posted by iveco:It was darn obvious that Tibs would lose the bid right from Day 1. And the SMRT-Tibs entity was subsequently screwed. So no choice but to space out train frequency to cut costs.Originally posted by sbst275:And to put the picture clearer, the loser will have to merge with SMRT (It happened out to be true)
Seriously, there was no synergy for the merger. Because, SMRT accquired a small can and public bus operator. It became clear when DelGro initated merger with Comfort in Dec 2002Originally posted by iveco:And the SMRT-Tibs entity was subsequently screwed. Since there was no synergy, it was best that both entities stuck to what they knew best. But that simply wasn't the case.Originally posted by sbst275:Seriously, there was no synergy for the merger. Think they just follow what the govt say lor - 2 tpt operatorsOriginally posted by iveco:Since there was no synergy, it was best that both entities stuck to what they knew best. But that simply wasn't the case.![]()
Don't forget BBT.Originally posted by PJ_Quek:BPJ in SMRT, CCK in SBST. SKG and PGL in SMRT, HG in SBST. With a mixture of different bus companies in the NE and NW region.
BBT can be TIBS or later SMRT, so that BBT residents will enjoy a mixture of buses, which they are enjoying currently.Originally posted by iveco:Don't forget BBT.
Your wish maybe come true in about 7 months time.....btw, do you own any SMRT or Delgro SBS shares?Originally posted by sBs_boy:I Like the way things are NOW.. If SMRT OWN NEL.. THINGS WILL BE WORST.. There will alwayz be Crowded trains adn trains are arriving at 7mins durin PEAK Hours... i prefer SBST and NOT SMRT
