998Y and 999U are demonstrator buses that SBS Transit got to test the feasibility of using ARTICULATED buses coupled with double-decked buses. From what you see on the roads, obviously it failed and that's why you still ONLY see 2 articulated SBST buses on the roads. -
Maybe bcos, it is too difficult to accomodate the long buses. I wonder if you have noticed, VO, that 998Y, and 999U always have to park at the side of the parking-lots? It also did not help that pp dropping via the last door seldom get the chance to step on cement.
