i to hope service 11 will start from upper east coast terminal and end at geylang lor 1 i hope it happensOriginally posted by payne:service 11 should start from upper east coast terminal and end at geylang lor 1![]()
Nt a VEry GOod Choice.. It would Duplicate ALOT of Services Along the route.. Like 31 16 etc etc.. from Marine Parade to Old Airport Rd Sector.. and i dont think SBST would wanna Do that...Originally posted by 5454:i to hope service 11 will start from upper east coast terminal and end at geylang lor 1 i hope it happens![]()
1. No bus stopsOriginally posted by payne:No it will not duplicate as it can serve Haig Road as there is no bus service along that road. People living at Haig Road can go Stadium and Parkway easily.![]()
If I'm not wrong, there is also no right turn from Haig Rd into Mountbatten Rd.Originally posted by delonchew:1. No bus stops
2. Road too narrow
3. No right-turn from Mountbatten Road into Haig Road (if 11 is to travel straight from Upper East Coast)
Haig Rd (between Geylang Rd and Dunman Rd) is within walking distance to nearby Geylang Rd, Tanjong Katong Rd and Dunman Rd where there are ample bus services.Originally posted by payne:Actually hope to have bus ply along haig road so that primary and secondary schools student can benefit. If you said the road is to narrow, how about joo chait road where service 16 and 33 can also ply along the road???
What about TKPS? They are primary school students and it's pityful that they had to walk all the way to Tanjong Katong or Mountbatten.Originally posted by tranquilice:Haig Rd (between Dunman Rd and Mountbatten Rd) is mainly private residential area so demand isn't high.
It's not that far from Mountbatten Rd.Originally posted by musli_bar:What about TKPS? They are primary school students and it's pityful that they had to walk all the way to Tanjong Katong or Mountbatten.
well some services may not be unprofitable but there have to be available to fulfil some social needs... like for e.g. certain new towns like Punggol have Svc 84 as a temporary measure as well as to fulfil certain social obligations. Similarly, Svc 11 is meant for such purpose.Originally posted by Acx1688:Ah, have u taken sv36 before? if u did, u would not have put up tt suggestion. Do u noe tt sv36 is a v v impt route for residents along MArine Parade Rd to get to their wk place in Suntec, MArina & Orchard Area? Ev mornin, it'a alomost packed to the brim, it goes the same as in the evening! Y should sv36 be shorten then? it's a cash cow for SBST, on weekends try gettin on board one! PLease do not suggest to shorten any sv juz because u tink it's LONG! SBST has their reason for maintaining sv36 the way it is. In addition , sv36 is smethin like sv390. If u dun noe where sv390 goes, read the archives. Get a better picture 1st before putting a THREAD!
sv11 is meant to bring residents to National Stadium from Kallang MRT. if u din noe, there's CSS608 from Bedok Int[except they dun operate on Sun & PHs] In addition if u wan to get to Stadium from Bedok, there's MRT, sv14,sv31,sv196, u juz nd to walk! sv11 is not a waste of Manpower coz commuters still utilise it! if it's not profitable, sv11 would have been withdrawn long time ago!
Buddy, u nd to increase ur knowledge of buses![]()
if there nothing much going on at the stadium area, service 11 ferries the old folks from kallang to the national stadium turf club outletOriginally posted by ipodee:well some services may not be unprofitable but there have to be available to fulfil some social needs... like for e.g. certain new towns like Punggol have Svc 84 as a temporary measure as well as to fulfil certain social obligations. Let it be what it is now.Originally posted by payne:Service 11 can actually merge with some other services??? But don't know what service is more suitable???
How about 62?Originally posted by payne:Service 11 can actually merge with some other services??? But don't know what service is more suitable???
The route is already long as it's a loop service, don't make it longer.Originally posted by iveco:How about 62?
Possible... Since later the Marina Barrage and Kallang Sports Hub.. But not nowOriginally posted by kenny_cai:Service 11: In my opinion, it's useless. If possible, maybe it should serve Beach Road and Marina Centre, and back again. After all, you guys have complained that it's under served. Maybe Service 11 is the solution, but SBST is too short-sighted to see it.
How about keeping the route but operates the service only on weekends?Originally posted by kenny_cai:Service 11: In my opinion, it's useless. I guess the svc 11 is better off operating as it is now. It is the only bus service that plies direct from Kallang MRT station into Kallang Park. The other bus services passing through are svc 16 and svc 608. For service 16, the nearest MRT station is City Hall while for svc 608 is either Bedok or Raffles Place. Bus stops along Nicoll Highway and Mountbatten Rd I believe are more than 500 metres away from Leisure Park (for example).Originally posted by tranquilice:How about keeping the route but operates the service only on weekends?
But demand isn't high on weekdays, operating on weekends only is a better choice in my opinion.Originally posted by bluezombie10:I guess the svc 11 is better off operating as it is now. Service 20 withdrawal is not that bad because only St. George's Rd and St. Wilfred Rd have no more bus service. Service M3 was one of the worst, no more bus service in the Bedok private estate after it got withdrawn.Originally posted by payne:Maybe let us scrap this service 11 like service 20![]()
