ya, it a good route and would love to see DDs deployed on it.Originally posted by 105090:how about a sv36B during off peak?Marine Parade Road >> Tomlinson Road >> Marine Parade? then DDs can even be used.. bulk of passengers are from MP to City and vice versa mostly.
This idea is not bad and can deploy DD which can solve the problemOriginally posted by SBS9889U:Service 36B from Upper East CoastTomlinson Road (loop)
back to Upp East coast?
It also provides a faster way to Orchard Rd for people living in Upp East Coast instead of sv 14.Originally posted by gorby107:This idea is not bad and can deploy DD which can solve the problem

You are just going back to the days of 16 and 16E.. Reason that they dont wan to continue using 16E was because at that time, passengers / tourists going towards Changi often mistake 16 as the one going into Airport.. While the other hand, ppl going towards Marine Parade often mistake 16E as the 'Express' Service to Marine Parade skipping Stadium / Old Airport Rd area. Thus, in order to end the confusion, Then SBS decided to split the Service into 16 and 36. the 36 now is almost the same as the 390 in the past except that it turn into Suntec City area instead of plying Marina Sq (390) and instead of Expressway all the way, 36 turn out into Marine Parade Area before continue itz route to the Airport.Originally posted by SBS9889U:I tink Service 36 can be renamed 36E that serves Changi AirportTomlinson while service 36 serves UEC
Tomlinson
What "long bus" are you referring to?Originally posted by gorby107:I think Sv 36 should deploy the long bus during peak hours as a cameo not starting from Changi Airport but from Marine Parade???
So far DDs have not been deployed on SWTs which use full SD fleets.Originally posted by 105090:how about a sv36B during off peak?Marine Parade Road >> Tomlinson Road >> Marine Parade? then DDs can even be used.. bulk of passengers are from MP to City and vice versa mostly.

Service 16E was renumbered service 36 in December 1997 as part of a renumbering exercise. Services M1 and M2 were renumbered together with service 16E.Originally posted by sBs_boy:You are just going back to the days of 16 and 16E.. There is an exception though. Before the June school holidays this year, 158A deviated from its parent route.Originally posted by tranquilice:The route of a SWT can only follows the route of its parent service and not deviate from it.
The Long bus referred to the two only long vehicle( like SMRT Bendy Buses) in SBST to be deploy on Sv 36 which is now both on Sv 18Originally posted by tranquilice:What "long bus" are you referring to?
Yes they still put that thing on for SMRT buses and other festival occasions like Merry Christmas and so on and think so for SBST tooOriginally posted by 105090:SBS called its first long bus (SBS997A) the Super long bus. then after 998 came, its back says "You are Travelling behind Asia's longest bus" and the EDS says "Welcome onboard"
talking bout EDS, does the buses put thnigs like "Happy Chinese New Year" etc now?
For passengers to UEC, there's sv14 & the frequency is quite good so it defeats the purpose to have another duplicate route for it. The Load Factor for sv 36 in the evenings is quite high. However, having DDs on SWTs or 36X on a specialised route to MP/UEC will not solve the problem because of the jams Along Orchard/Bras Basah Rd. Immediately after Marine Parade Rd BS[Os MArine Parade Gdn], the bus is only half/3Q full. What is best done is 2 add a bus to the fleet during evening peak.Originally posted by SBS9889U:It also provides a faster way to Orchard Rd for people living in Upp East Coast instead of sv 14.
yes, though interestingly 48 seems to be competing more directly with 197 for the bugis commuters.Originally posted by 105090:as the bulk of passengers on 36 is from marine parade, there is sv48 to assist sv36 for those to the city, esp. to the bugis area. this may deter SBS from introducing a proposed 36B even if someone ask them to.. and, DDs moves slower than SDs, not feasible..
