Clementi to get air conditioned bus interchange

SINGAPORE : After Toa Payoh, Sengkang, and Ang Mo Kio, the next air-conditioned bus interchange in Singapore will be at Clementi.
It is part of the makeover of Clementi Town Centre, which is expected to be ready by the middle of 2010.
The Housing and Development Board says that the existing bus interchange will be redeveloped into a modern 40-storey complex, and will integrate a new library, town council office, shopping mall and new HDB flats.
Construction will start end of next year, and the existing bus interchange will be relocated temporarily to the vacant site near blocks 437 and 438 at Clementi Avenue 3. - CNA

The upgrading of Clementi Interchange is LONG overdue. At least Sengkang folks don't have to worry about getting wet when it rains. From what I have noticed so far, Clementi is the ONLY interchange with little shelter.

Em... All the shops and flats will relocate into the bus int... Dun forget, the building is made up of the SBS Int, Shopping Area, Town Council Office and flats (388 units) -

According to the plans at HDB's website, Clementi is due to get a library. This is LONG overdue, man. In fact, it was proposed that a library be constructed for us in Clementi more than 10 years ago, but it was shelved. The reason being Jurong East was big enough to cater to those folks in the West. But over the years, we had libraries sprouting up in Jurong West, Bukit Batok, Chua Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang. Anywhere but Clementi.

Frankly, I applaud the changes to my beloved town centre and bus interchange. But I doubt I'd get to enjoy the benefits.
