CNG Buses

Hi..any one could tell me what happened to the CNG buses that used to serve Jurong Island? as in are the buses still operating? and how come it stop ? reasons that it stops? ...

They are now serving on 105. Both are deployed from SLBP. Seen them on numerous occasions but haven't taken them yet.

yah both buses, SBS 2988 M and SBS 2989 K are deployed on service 105 which runs from Serangoon to Jurong East.
the 2 buses are based in the western-most depot called soon lee bus park.
both buses operate during peak hours on weekdays and daylight hours on weekends. however, only 1 of the 2 buses operate on weekends.

heard that there are more CNGs somwhere in the west when will they come out and on wat service???

Not necessarily...if SMRT were to buy new cng busesw at a large scale, they would need to build a new depot as their current depots are already overcrowded. how about having a Depot in jurong island itself so all the CNG buses can park there and refill there.

i thought that the SPC in singapore had one branch in east coast that provides CNG too?...cant those buses go there for refuel? anyway anyone know what type of fuel they sell at the EASt coas SPC station that provides NAtural gases?

The Government has plans to build CNG refuelling points at Loyang and Senoko in the near future.

The explosive force of CNG is much higher than petrol.
Thus.. CNG dispensing locations.. cannot be near residential or high density areas. Given land scarcity in Sg.. is a big challenge to site such a location. The cost of compensation for the buffer zone will not be small.
And using tankers.. CNG isn't like a liquid... enter tank by gravity. Requires a longer tank refill time. Not as efficient as existing options. Expect fare increase if this option is pursued. -
