Is fare updating system reliable for loop services?

ST forum had published an article "Is fare updating system reliable for loop services" by Chua Khee Seng on 5 Apr.
He noticed that he was overcharged on Service 9.
He was deducted $1.53 from Bedok to Eastpoint.
He suspect that because Service 9 is a loop service to Airport Cargo Road, the auto fare updating system could have mistaken the bus to be at the opposite bus stop at the point he alighted.
Is it possible?
How does SbSt going to compensate?
How many commuters may be overcharged?
Service 9 is not the only loop service.
This could be a big blunder. -
of all the countries that i have visited...sg bus may not be the most ex.... but they are sure to be the most stupid and least direct one...

seems to me its a minor glitch on the VLS. i believe that not all vehicles on S9 have the same problem.
just a word of caution kindly check whether u;ve been deducted the correct fare before alighting, especially on loop services

Has EasyLink or LTA answered that query in ST Forum? I couldn't recall seeing reply from easylink.

Yes.. they have answered the query, but very stupid answer. They just mentioned that it is a glitch in their system and they are trying to resolve it with their supplier. They never mentioned abt the rest of commuters, who have not complained and who have been overcharged...
