1. I board SBS 9103 D, service 97 at 3.30 PM and my alighting stop was Temasek Blvd Suntec Convention Ctr, so as to transfer to Express 518 to Pasir Ris. However, when the bus reached Beach Rd opp Shaw Twrs, some passengers in the lower deck came up and informed that the bus was terminating service at this stop (the BC didnÂ’t came up at all!). I was shocked, I immediately went to the BC and asked him, he replied that the bus will not go to Marina Centre and so he had to end the trip here, and he also told me that he donÂ’t know how to carry on the route from here. In the end, I alighted as told to do so. The bus then zoomed off with full service 97 destos!
2. I noticed that Express 518 was also diverted to ply Beach Rd before turning right into Ophir Rd. So I decided to wait here for the bus. During the wait, saw buses of diverted services 10, 14, 16, 56, 36, 70, 196 and Express 502 but none of the others. Some BCs stopped their buses at the stop for boarding and alighting but some donÂ’t! (a BC driving service 16 refused to let passengers board) In the end, Express 518 came and I flagged for it but the bus went to the extreme right lane instead and zoomed past the stop! Express 502 can stop here but why not Express 518?! Both services turn right into Ophir Rd! In the end, I had to take service 12 from Victoria St.
3. Why are NAC buses still deployed on services 354 and 403 on weekends? Service 403 frequency is at 20 minutes and itÂ’s no surprise why the NAC bus I took (SBS 3607 G) departed the interchange at 6.35 PM with nearly full load.
4. SBS 287 R was the last bus on service 53 towards Bishan, board the bus to find almost all the seats taken up.
5. SC of TIB 756K, NR6 stopped along Upp Serangoon Rd aft Sunshine Terr to buy supper from nearby coffeeshop.
6. I alighted from NR6 at Orchard Turn and waited for NR5 to Clementi. I can also take NR8 but NR5 plied a more interesting route, as NR8 from Orchard to Clementi is basically the night version of service 106. In the end, I board the SECOND NR8 bus after a 35 minutes wait. NR5 buses were nowhere in sight during the wait. -
Most of the drivers were not taught of the diverted route. They can only rely on the inspectors to guide them, but some junctions like the 1 turning into Ophir Rd don't have any inspectors there. I heard a lot of 97 & 502 BCs went straight to Kallang instead of turning right into Ophir Rd. I guided 1 svc97 BC into Marina Centre & Suntec as he said he don't know how to proceed. He told me he was only given the notice to paste on the windscreen telling people what roads were skipped. He didn't even know that this map exist. It was his 2nd trip & his first trip ended up in Kallang too but luckily got 1 lady passenger guided him back to Harbourfront. So don't expect the BCs to lookout for passengers at the busstop when they had their hands full of trying to find their way around.Originally posted by tranquilice:1. For route diversion, do the BCs have to went thru the diverted route familiarisation? The BCs are not familiarised with the route and there are insufficient traffic inspectors to guide them, it's no surprise why they go on the wrong route.Originally posted by samtlk:Most of the drivers were not taught of the diverted route. They have to...but sure got some who miss it, some who can't remember it (because got so many turns), some last-min replacement drivers & some who purposely go wrong (can eat snake)....end up with 70-80% of the BCs still don't know the route. With the closure of Raffles Link, I think the best solution for SBST services is to skip the Marina Centre and Suntec City area altogether, like the SMRT services. 1 thing I noticed though -- my ez-link card don't have any record of me taking that service 97.

MY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION ON svc 42 - JLN KEMBANGAN today :
SBS 8018 B - this BC told me nicely but a little suspiciously that I need to get SBST's permission to photograph buses!! i told him that i was only a bus fan interested in buses and got no other motive. I remembered several mths back, a BC (not sure whether is the same guy) also on svc 42; told me the same thing.
Therefore, I suggest that all my fellow bus fans go and photograph this bus, so that this BC gets used to the existence of bus fans in Singapore!!! Hope that he will cast away all his suspicions and get used to our presence!! -
