Popular Book store have?Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:Hi all,
The price of the book will be set by the bookshop under normal trading terms, something which the author has no control. However, since there will be no freight cost, which is about GBP8 per book from UK, it should be not much different than SGD50.
You can order the book now from any TIMES Bookshop in Singapore. You can also wait for the book to be released, if you want.
maybe u can wait a while and try to get it second hand? $50.. well, if its 30, then more can afford it.. how about if we order in bulk and ask for discounts?Originally posted by sbskidz:Will it be cheaper to order the book or buy the book when it is published..?
If I am not wrong, I read from the NLB Website that ALL Books printed in Singapore have to have at least a copy submitted to the NLBOriginally posted by SBS9889U:Will it be avaliable at the library?

Went down to Times bookshop at Tampines mall / century square, and checked with the counter staff. Did not have the book title or ISBN number with me, so I just check with them whether they have a book call "Singapore buses" in the store, published on 15 jun 05. They looked at me, and point me towards the Transitlink Guide 2004. Even Times the bookshop, who is part of the Times publishing group, doesn't know about this book.Originally posted by The_Bus_Guide:Dear all,
This book is a must have for the true blue bus enthusiasts. Even if the price is on the high side, rest assured it is worth the money you paid for. It's contents are priceless.
The book is divided into 4 parts. Part 1 looks into the buses which were inherited from the various bus companies when SBS was formed. Part 2 showcases the new buses which were bought by SBS. Part 3 is about the first double-deckers and part 4 features the one-off demonstrator buses.
Each bus type is accompanied by technical details, a brief history and photographs. For the history buffs, there is even a complete fleetlist showing its registration date, configuration, body type and its former SH/STC registration.
Still not convinced? How about buses you've probably never seen before? Ever heard the 'old birds' talking about Berliet, Leyland Leopard, Renault PR100.2 and others? Well, they're all here inside this book; with pictures as well.
I could go on and on. Let's hope the books can hit the shelves in Singapore soon. If you don't want to wait that long, then you can order directly from Mr Mike Davis.
Hey, same encounter here, yesterday I went to Times bookshop at Centrepoint and I ask the staff there to check if the book is in stock. I gave the FULL DETAILS with the ISBN, after that the staff said :" Sorry, we don't have this book AND our bookshop dosen't sell this kind of booksOriginally posted by demag_ac:Went down to Times bookshop at Tampines mall / century square, and checked with the counter staff. At this rate, very hard to buy the book from retail stores. You will have to order from Mr Mike Davis online using his order form.
I am very sorry that you think that the book is too expensive - presumably you do not study Business Studies or you would know that the selling price of a product includes both the cost of production plus a value added factor. A business is required to make a profit in order to sustain itself. If I don't make a profit, then there is no money for me to buy food and thus live long enough to write the next book!Originally posted by 105090:maybe u guys can leave a post if you had bought the book or is interested to buy? i still think $50 is too expensive.. $20 is more acceptable![]()
Unfortunately all the five bookshops in Singapore that I have approached have turned down the idea of stocking it! Has anyone tried placing a special order? Surely they won't turn away trade?Originally posted by CAIX:Has anyone bought the SBS book yet? I can't find it neither in popular bookstore nor times bookshop.
Has anyone checked with The Commercial Press Bookstore at IMM? This store sold the Singapore Buses Handbook by Danny C.Y. Chan at one time. The last time I went there, there is a small collection of Hong Kong Buses Yearbook. Perhaps they would be interested to stock this book?Originally posted by CAIX:Hey, same encounter here, yesterday I went to Times bookshop at Centrepoint and I ask the staff there to check if the book is in stock. So can I pay by cash? and if so, should I mailed it to DTS or what?Originally posted by MikeDTS:Unfortunately all the five bookshops in Singapore that I have approached have turned down the idea of stocking it! Has anyone tried placing a special order? Surely they won't turn away trade?
I can have the book delivered to your door for an additional $6 if you order it by downloading an order form from my website www.BooksDTS.co.uk. If you pay by postal orders TOTAL GBP £18.50 i.e. book £16.50 ($50) plus £2 ($6) local SG delivery - I will e-mail the printer to send you a copy.
I hope that this helps.
