Bus Captains Oops?

Anyone can remember whether a BC had made a wrong turn in the route somewhere?
I just now saw a svc 21 (didn't catch the rego) turning left out of Tampines St 34 into Tampines Ave 7, and with passengers in it. Seems like it made a wrong turn somewhere.
Also seem to recall previous svc 28 (Tampines - New Bridge Rd) making a wrong turn into Bedok North Ave 4 when it should have been travelling straight along Upper Changi Rd (this was in the 80s). Remembered that BC thought that he was returning back to depot.
Also that svc 28 BC previously thought that he was on svc 23, so he had taken the PIE route till Bendemeer, halfway only to u-turn at Eunos Link as he realised his mistake. -
The biggest mistake was the Svc 196 LA driver who thought he was driving Svc 16. He turned into Stadium Road from Nicoll Highway without realising that there was a height restriction for his vehicle. The roof of the bus was gone.

What I could remember was these,
A 74 (Hougang - Buona Vista) driver who thought he was driving 165, did not turned left into Ang Mo Kio Ave 6 and went straight into Ave 3. Fortunately he was still able to u-turn and turned right into Ave 6 when he finally realised his mistake.
An ex-327 driver who thought he was driving ex-321 turned right towards Hougang Ave 1 instead of turning left towards Tampines Road.
A 161 (Hougang - Woodlands) driver forgot to turn right towards Compass Point and went straight towards TPE, thus skipping the whole stretch of Punggol Road and Compass Point!! LOL
And finally another 161 driver in Woodlands Regional Interchange failed to turn left to pick up passengers when he left the bus park and went straight out of the interchange instead!! I dunno whether he had forgotten to do so or his bus not suitable to be in service....so we had to wait a very very long time for another 161.... T_T -
A 70 MB0405 DM BC once turned left, instead of carrying on to Serangoon Int in AMK. The MB0405 reversed out of the slip-road just in time. Phew.
913 BC driving MB0405G Box Bendy thought he was driving 911. He turned left instead of going straight aft leaving int. The bendy turned into the tiny road before he realized his mistake. So he went on till the car-park bf the bend and reversed butt first into tiny carpark. Bendy not easy to squeeze in, so it took 10min to get out, while fed-up drivers waited as poor BC reversed, forward, reverse, forward........... -
got once after 28 merge with 152, the bus wasdriving along bedok north ave 3 heading towards chngi rd. But driver turned his dd into the int direction
28 again but this time after amended to go to st 32/45. driver driving along ave 2 then 4get to turn... BC stop the bus and ask wether anione going to st 32/45 but kucky no one so the bus continue journey from there -

one bus service 28 towards toa payoh along bedok reservoir road. BC made left turn at the wrong junction. instead of turning into bedok nth ave 3, he turn into bedok reservoir view. cannot u-turn as road too narrow. so BC bo bian did the turning at the round-about...had to turn very slow as the round-about very narrow...

My 2 experiences with bus drivers boo-boo.
1) Service 36 towards CGA. Bus was entering CGA Terminal 1 when the driver turned into the wrong entrance. He went into the taxi waiting area instead of the slope down towards the bus terminal. Eventually, he reverse out and turned left again into the terminal.
2) Service 187 towards WDL. Driver missed the exit from BKE to Woodlands Ave 3 as it was a heavy thunderstorm. Instead, he went straight to the Woodlands Checkpoint exit and got the bendy stuck in the Causeway traffic jam. After being stuck in the jam for 1.5 hours, bus driver managed to turn into Kranji Road and sped towards Woodlands. Didn't see the driver again (got sacked?). -
Illegal u-turn through a gap in the center divider which allows cars on ave 3 towards amk mrt to turn right into a car park, and cars getting out of the car park to turn right towards amk mrt....hmmm think u-turn not so appropriate, 3 pt turn more appropriate :pOriginally posted by tranquilice:Where did the bus U-turn? -
I once saw a Svc 156 WA Merc along C'wealth Ave West (Blk 365). It then turned left into Clementi Rd towards Bt Timah. That time, 256 still operated out of Serangoon and was under AMDEP. Maybe the driver was from 166 and thought he was supposed to go straight after turning out of Clementi Ave 3 instead of turning left into Clementi Ave 2.

small major oops.
service 76 ( towards marine parade).
bus turns left from hougang ave 2 to yio chu kang road. actual route was turn right at ang mo kio ave 3 to yio chu kang road (yio chu kang link) but the driver went straight on to hougang ave 2 (wrong route) and u turned somnewhere
service 105 (to jurong east)
instead of turning left to serangoon ave 2 and then 3 from boundary road, BC went straight past ave 2, via opp cardiff court and lorong chuan to resume route -
once took a svc 65, from Tampines Int. Remembered it was a CAC MKII WA. BC had accidentally wanted to turn left from Bedok Reservoir Rd into Bedok North Rd. Actually BC was supposed to turn left at another junction ahead. Poor BC had to reverse the bus out of the slip road. Fortunately it was late at night (around 11 plus)

I was once on board a Svc 166 LO3X headed for Chinatown from Dover when the driver missed the turning into the Alexandra Rd exit by a few metres. He spent quite a numebr of minutes reversing his vehicle into the turning lane. The fact that there were many fast-moving cars behind my bus only made things worse.

Monday 28 March. FFw 174e SBS 3852 P. Towards Boon Lay.
Bus was on Adam Rd, it overshot the slip road leading to PIE (Jurong) and went straight to Adam flyover. The ambassador (SBST staff) onboard had to alight to help divert traffic so that the bus captain can reverse the bus to turn into the slip road. -
A new and blur blur and absent-minded SBS bus captain, on his first day of work, approaches a traffic junction and forgets his bus route, can't remember to turn left or to go straight. On slowly apporaching the traffic junction, he scratches his head, then looks behind at his passengers and asks if any regular passengers on this service could direct him which way to turn. Then a regular passenger told him "Turn left, Uncle".

A few couple of metres before the junction, he stopped his bus and took out his Street Directory and Bus Guide and check the exact route. His passengers behind all stared and him, stunned and amused.

Once I took Svc 31 from Tampines heading towards Toa Payoh.
At the junction between Bedok South Ave 1 and Marine Parade Road, instead of turning into Marine Parade Road it went straight into ECP.
Huge error.... it could only exit the ECP at Still Road South.
Luckily for the bus captain I was headed for Parkway Parade and not my home at Marine Parade... otherwise I would have raised hell for him. -
This thread reminds me of an experience i had years ago in my sec sch days..
I was taking svc 151 and the driver was apparently a noob.. at almost every junction he had to ask us passengers whether to go straight or turn etc.. I thought all newbie bus captains will have to undergo some orientation course?

i took the 3rd bus
woman driver driving this SBS3859 on 174e evening peak
1st mistake
it was alrite till we reached adam road. she missed the turn to the PIE. she hurriedly swereved the bus into the in bound lane for PIE changi airport.
we headed along PIE and then we came upon thomson rd. a 2nd error was made. she did not realise the bus CAN u trun at thomson rd flyover/exit and head back along PIE. instead we went into thomson rd and enjoyed a nice jam
she u trun at the newton rd jucntion and we get stuck in jam again
then we finally made it to whitley road and back on the PIE
but wait theres going to be a third mistake
along PIE she hurried fed off to BKE . all the while she could have stayed on PIE and shoot out at jln anak bukit ala 985. we went all the way to diary farm rd.
at this point a woman pax requested to be let off at rail mall
the trip was eventually cancelled and we got our refunds. lol
