Public Transport Council approves fare increases for trains

SINGAPORE : The Public Transport Council has approved fare increases for trains and buses from July.
Bus and train fares can go up by 10 cents across the board. This is if commuters pay cash.
However, if they use ez-link link cards, fares will increase by one to two cents for buses and one to three cents for trains.
Student fares and prices of student and NS men concession passes will not be increased.
Senior citizens will, however, be affected by this increase. -

Obscence profits? If so ar, all bus rts would have been profitable already, we wun need to have NAC buses used till today ... And tell you, when aircon buses are needed, have very few.. No ppl take, they then deploy. -

SBS was never suited to run a subway line in the same way that SMRT is unsuitable to operate a bus fleet. Had SMRT been in charge of the NEL, Tibs would be left very much alone. besides, the stupid line took away a lot of routes which people took.. forcing them to take the NEL..

it must NOT be forgotten that this is NOT a private company which does it's damnest to maximise profit.. this is a PUBLIC SERVICE...
the fact that they companies are in the same bed with the PTC should have set off alarm bells an ice age ago... i guess we, Joe Average, will not be heard... we're just proles to be taken advantage of, cogs in the wheel..

They get the S$4.6B to build the NEL or the billions for the old MRT network from the operators... The govt wants to get back the $$ -

Later all roads will get bus lane for full day operations like Orchard Rd -
thing is... most of the time, i'm going to work when i take the bus...
the buses take 1 hour and 20 minutes to get me to work (one way).. if i take a car it takes me 17 minutes...
so, how come bus services get like that? oh.. before you ask, if i use the very way the buses take to get to work, i would take 23 minutes.. i've timed it already...
