From Today's Voices,
I REFER to the letter by Ms Chua Kim Choo (May 19) regarding the feeder service and the MRT system.
.
We would like to assure Ms Chua that, in the planning of bus services, we place top priority on schedule adherence. The arrival times of buses at terminals and bus capacity at high loading points are closely monitored to match commuters' needs.
.
In instances where schedules are affected by varying commuter demand, poor traffic conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, adjustments to the schedules are made by operations staff wherever possible.
.
To ensure the regular frequency of the feeder service in Ms Chua's Yishun area, we have stepped up checks on all buses operating on the service. Surveys have also been conducted on-site.
.
Similarly, we monitor the MRT train service closely to meet commuters' needs. Over the past two years, SMRT has consistently achieved train service availability of 99.95 per cent and above, exceeding the 98-per-cent standard set by the Land Transport Authority.
.
We thank Ms Chua for the feedback and would appreciate if she could contact our SMRT Customer Relations Centre at 1800-336 8900 or email [email protected] for any clarification.

It mentioned only adherence on schedule, and not on bus/train frequencies.
If officially a bus service had a bus frequency of 1hr (of course there is none), even if bus captain adhere to the bus frequency strictly, the freqency would not be satisfying.
