Anyway, I have no doubt that its the BC that controls the bus performance. Largely. The tridents have a suspension system that make pax feel like they are riding ona bucking horse. In my opinion, VO3X fastest, followed by LO3X, then trident, then VSO. But I feel tridents have good overall performance.
PS: If you have doubts about what I said, I shld say I take these 4 types almost everyday. -
670S 089, fast again! Seems like 089 BCs all very kan chiong. This one cruised at 70-75km/h, then when he reached PSR, caught up with 287G. He got so fed up with the slow 053 bus that instead of flashing head-lights, he honked for 5s!
Some attitude! Later after I got down, I watch mkIII vs MB0405. Of course the MB0405 won, but the mkIII played drag-race till nearing next bus-stop, the MB0405 gave way. What an enjoyable trip. By far, I think 089 is one of few SBST svc that overtake others on a freq basis. -

Some VO3Xes on Svc 14 spped down Merdeka Bridge occasionally. Experienced it personally.

For me i think my fastest ride on a Singapore public bus (relative to the distance travelled of course) was from Causeway @ Woodlands to Sim Lim Tower. Took only 23 minutes on a OH 1627 L via SJE with fairly light traffic almost all the way whether on or off expressway around 10 to 11 @ night. Average road speed ~ 75 km/h with a few touches ~ 100 km/h while on expressway.
Overall for me THE most satisfactory public bus ride here todate in terms of
speed, efficiency, comfort & silence ! Especially when they don't set the Sutrak air-con setpoint temperature too cold so that the noisy drony air-con compressor don't need to work so often hence more peace on board with only some wind noise !!Originally posted by SBS3624G:What are your fastest rides till date?
For me, the ride home on 089 yesterday is the fastest I have tried. The mkIII was pretty normal till he reached Lor Halus. Actually 9638C, 088, was directly in front, both cruising comfortably at 65km/h. Suddenly the mkIII revved up and attempted to overtake the speeding VO3X. I was scarred stiff by the sudden revving up and the mkIII reached to the point it was screaming!(Must have been 80km/h by then) The BC relaxed and speed dropped back to about 65-70km/h, unfortunately, 9638C was not to be outdone....... It played drag race with us, and the VO3X started pulling away again. The mkIII BC bo chap, until the VO3X rear was level till the front of mkIII, then the mkIII went off its rocket again and this time, the BC kept his foot on the pedal and the mkIII overtook a small lorry, a motorcycle, a car, and a garbage truck, and finally deposited itself between a scooter and a van. My heart almost fell out. The entire drag race lasted from Lor Halus to close to Sengkang, I am surprised, the mkIII was still ok. Phew.

I quite agree as i was on 1 non-air-con unit & it managed 80 km/h @ highest road speed gear revving beyond green zone near red, with a full load on the Causeway. With air-con & partial load of pasengers i therefore would expect ~ 80 km/h assuming no changes to gear ratios etc.Originally posted by SBS3624G:Siao...... Got any prove? O 405 G @ 100 km/h seems surprising in view of the sort of gear ratios these are known to have here which are more geared for acceleration than speed.
Also the obvious fact that they're much heavier than all the other models mentioned below ! They have higher power @ 299 BHP but GVW in excess of 20t while all the others below only GVW 16t with power ~ 250 BHP.
From own perceptions only, i'll expect the fastest among the below to be N113CRB & slowest B10M (irregardless which edition). O 405 should be faster than O 405 G.
Having said that, 'anything's possible' as they could specify the gear ratios differently but still not very likely that a larger & heavier vehicle can outdo a smaller & lighter model, especially when fully loaded to their very different carrying capacities !Originally posted by carbikebus:The top speed record on Public buses which i witness
